A band of squirrels knock on the Abbey doors. Niteshade leans over the wall, even though her mother said not to.
"They have wierd tails! Mommy, look!" Niteshade tugged on her mother's robe. "Look!" Her mother looked down, and when she couldn't see anything wrong with them, she said,
"Get down from the wall. It looks like rain and we have to get these berries back inside."
"But they have wierd tails..." Niteshade grumbled.
That night during supper, Niteshade overheard some elders talking. She didn't know what they said, but this is what she repeated to her friends, "New squirrels, blah blah, fishes and wierd, little big wrong. I wonder what is little big wrong and fishes and wierd," She said in her dorm that night.
"Maybe 'Fishesandwierd' is a name," Replied Eeilla, one of her friends.
"I don't think so..." Said Niteshade,"Oh look! There's one now! Didn't I tell you they had wierd tails?"
"Looks almost like...a rat...tail...OH NO! THEY'RE VERMINS!!!" Eeilla screamed.
"Vermins? Where?" Asked Abbess Songbreeze, who had just walked into the dorm room.
"The squirrels! Take off their masks and fake fur!!" Niteshade yelled. Suddenly, the squirrels revealed tattoos on their faces as they took off their masks.
"Get the dibbuns out of here!" Cried the Abbess to a nearby hedgehog. So the warriors and the vermins fought. For two days. We were moved to the Unbathable Bunch dorm and there was hardly any room to play. The upside is, we won and "Sent the vermin packing," is what my mother said. The downside was that we had to clean our dorm after the fight.
"I told you squirrels were wierd creatures," I whispered to my mother after everything was over.
