Mission #39
"Vermin!Vermin! They broke in during the night. Constance is in a cage and Abbot is being held hostage!" Tangel yelled. "We've got to get help. Lettuce Leaf you go get the Gousim and Skipper's otters."
"Umm, Tagle will that be enough creatures? How many vermin are there?" I asked.
" About one hundred, you're right we'll need more beasts to be able to fight the vermin. Inbar you must go to salamandastron to get help." tangle said.
"Alright I'll go. Good thing I just acquired mail armor, a cloak, sword, and a new bow." I said. I put on my mail armor,buckled on my sword, put my cloak on, then shouldered my quiver and bow.I sneaked down to the kitchen and took some bread, cheese,cookies and three flagons of october ale and one of straw berry fizz. Then I left Redwall and started my joury to Salamandastron. I did not quite know the way, but I knew that it was south west of Redwall on the Western Sea. So off I went on my long journy.
I went south-east through Mossflower away from Redwall and all I ever knew. Once Redwall was out of sight I turned west and came to the path. First difficulty I had to figure a way to cross the ditch."Hmmm," I thoght," I could try what Martin, Dinny, and Gonff did." And that's what I did. I found a long stick,and took a runnig jump shoved the stick into the ditch bottom and pushed as hard as I could, vaulting acroos the ditch. "well thart's taken care of now I need to cross the plains." I said to myself. By then it was noon and I stopped to drink and have lunch. I cut a loaf in half and put some cheese in it, then took a long draught of October ale. After I had eaten I got up and continued walking. When it was beggining to get dark I was attacked by three rats and a stoat. I wasn't sure what to do so I tryed not to start a fight "Good day to ye," I said."would you by anychance have shelter for a traveler?"
"Hah,Its a posh squirrle," laughed one of the rats.
"Be quiet you addle brained ijit. Can't you tell the diference bewtween a posh squirrle and a posh otter?" the stoat said angrily.
"Oh yis we have shelter for a traveler,yis yis. Shelter in the galleys," another rat said.
Suddenly I knew there was nothing else to do. I drew my battle sword with a diamond in its pommel and attacked, my mail armor gleaming in the light of the setting sun. The stoat side-stepped easily but the rats were slowere and all three got chopped. The stoat threw a spear at me and ran. I continued on till dusk then I stopped and set up my small camp. I ate some more of the bread and cheese and ate a cookie then went to sleep. The next day was cold and wet. It rained all afternoon, now I was really glad I had a cloak.that night I set up camp again on the edge of the dunes.I was wet and cold when I fell asleep. When I woke up I was surounded by a lot of lizzards. "Oh gurt!" I thought now what do I do?" One of the lizzards came foreward and said "King Bright scale asks what you are doing on his land."
"I am sorry if I am trespasing on his land, I did not know it belonged to his majesty. I am traveling to Salamandastron." I replied, hpoing the lizzards would let me go. The name Salmandastron seemed to scare the lizzards.
"We are enemys of of the Stripedog and long ears if they come on our land we kill them," the lizzard king said.
"If it pleases your majesty I would like to pass through your land, after that I will never trespass on your land again," I said.
" If you go you must take a message to the stripedog and longears," said the king. Then he told me the message and sent me off,escorted by ten lizzard guards. At about noon they dissapeared and I figured that I was out side lizzard teritory. I stopped for a quick lunch then continued on towards Salamandastron. Soon I could see a small dot on the horizon which gradualy got bigger as I neared it. At midafternoon I could tell that it was Salamandastron. An hour later two tall hares came running towards me.
"hello,"I said when they arrived at where I was standing,"Are you from Salamandasron?"
"Jolly well are,wot wot,"one of them said.
"Can you take me there?" I asked.
"Jolly well can, wot wot," the other answered. Soon we arrived at the gates where we were met by the badger lord.
"Welcome youn one," he said" What brings you to my mountain?"
"Urgent news From Redwall," I said."Can you get me some food while I tell you?"
In answere the badger lord said"Grassrun ask the cook to bring food to my room."
"Yes sah,"replied the hare then he ran down a hall.
I explianed the situation at Redwall to the Badger Lord then gave him the message from the lizzards. "Imortal Stripedog if you and your longears come into our territory we will make you mortal and kill you," I said. The Badger lord laughed."hahaha they think I'm imortal! hahahahaha," then getting serous again said "We will leave tomorow at dawn. We will save Redwall."
The next morning I borded a boat with one hundred hares.we saild untill dark and were half way back to Redwall when we stopped. That night we sharpened our swords, spears, and axes, we also strung and waxed our bows and checked our arrows. Dawn was dark and misty the boat silently cast off as the sail caught the wind and we paddled with muffled oars. In an hour Redwall was in site we moored the boat then silently slipped through Mossflower Woodsat the north wallgate we met skipper, his otters and the Gousim they had unlocked the gate and were prepareing to attack. Then we slipped into Redwall and atacked yelling"Redwaallllll, Logallllloooggalllogggallloooogggggg,Eulalia,whuporywho!"then the battle began the vermin fought hard we fought hard one of the hares freed Constance two got killed saving Father Abbot. the battle was soon over. We had won!
