WILLPOWER PART 20: SURPRISE ME

We are outside the Harris residence. It is dark and quiet and there is no one around. Suddenly, a cloud surrounded
by lightning appears from nowhere with Willow in the middle of it. Within seconds, the cloud fades and Willow steps
towards the nearby building and goes inside. Inside, she opens the front door to Xander's place. She has a key.
She finds an empty room. Xander steps out of his room, dressed in nothing but boxers and holding a small axe.
XANDER *sleepy*
Oh *yawn* it's you. *yawn* What's up Will?
WILLOW
Glory's attacking. We need to get ready?
Xander immediately wakes up completely.
WILLOW
Andrew's here?
XANDER
Yeah, he's here. Where's the rest of the gang?
WILLOW
Dawn is at the Magic Box picking up some stuff and Kennedy is getting Giles.
XANDER
What do we do?
Willow looks at Xander with an awkward smile on her face.
WILLOW
Maybe getting dressed would be a good idea
Xander gives Willow an embarrassed smile.
XANDER
Oh, right!
Xander runs back to his room to change. Less than a minute later, he comes back out, fully dressed.
A few seconds later, the phone rings. Xander answers.
XANDER
Xander.... what?.... okay, I'll send her over
Xander hangs up the phone.
XANDER
Trouble at Dawnville. She says she can't find that crystally thingy she needs.
WILLOW
Okay, I'll go there. You wake up Andrew and uh.... stay here.
Willow walks out of the room.

At Kate's hideout, Kate walks in carrying Mitch. She lays Mitch down on the couch and sits down in a chair.
KATE
Wake up!
Mitch awakes, totally confused. he looks around in all directions. Then he notices Kate.
MITCH
Okay, what the hell is happening here?
KATE
I brought you here
Mitch is visibly angry but even more confused.
MITCH
I get that! *Why* did you bring me here?
KATE
It was necessary. If they find out, they'll kill you.
MITCH
If *who* finds out *what*?
KATE
They are fighting the great Glorificus....

At Giles' house, Kennedy knocks on the door repeatedly until, after more than a minute, Giles opens the door.
GILES
Kennedy? What are you doing here?
KENNEDY
Glory has attacked us, Willow told us to regroup at Xanders' place
GILES
What's wrong with your place?
KENNEDY
Glory was in there, I'll explain everything later. We need to go now.
Giles grabs his coat and follows Kennedy out.

At Kate's hideout, Mitch is looking at Kate with disbelief and a hint of panick.
KATE
If they find out that you are Glory, they'll kill you
MITCH *shocked*
Uh huh
KATE
You don't have to die, you know.... there is another way
MITCH
And that is...?
KATE
You can join us, work with the great Glorificus
Mitch doesn't know what to say.
KATE
Look, you don't really have a choice here. If you don't do it and they find out, they'll kill you
MITCH
They wouldn't kill me.
KATE
They killed Ben... the last guy who was Glory
MITCH
I don't believe you
KATE *smiles*
You don't believe me?
Kate stands up and touches Mitch on his forehead. Mitch eyes open wide.
$$$$$FLASHBACK TO BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: THE GIFT$$$$$
Ben breathes painfully. Giles comes over and kneels beside him.
GILES
Can you move?
BEN
Need a ... a minute. She could've killed me.
GILES
No she couldn't. Never. And sooner or later Glory will re-emerge, and ... make Buffy pay for that
mercy. And the world with her. Buffy even knows that....
Giles reaches into his pocket and takes out his glasses
GILES
....and still she couldn't take a human life.
GILES
She's a hero, you see.
Giles puts his glasses back on
GILES
She's not like us.
BEN
Us?
Giles suddenly reaches down and puts his hand over Ben's nose and mouth, holding them shut. Ben struggles weakly as Giles
keeps him still. Giles keeps his calm expression throughout.

Mitch looks at Kate with a scared expression on his face.
KATE
Join us... and this won't happen to you
Shot of Mitch's face. He doesn't know what to do.

MITCH
I don't wanna die
Kate smiles.
MITCH
What do I have to do?
KATE
Just relax and open yourself for her. Glorificus will rise again.
MITCH
When will that be?
KATE
Sooner than you think

At the Magic Box, Dawn is searching through the cabinets. Willow opens the door and steps in. Dawn turns towards
the door in surprise. Although she called Willow, she still expects it to be Glory.
DAWN
It's not here
WILLOW
I'll check
Willow sits down on the floor. She closes her eyes and looks up, clearly concentrating. She stays like that for several
seconds. Then, she tiredly lowers her head.
WILLOW *out of breath*
It's not here
DAWN
Nifty spell
WILLOW
But energy-consuming
Willow stands up again. She almost falls over but manages to stay on her feet.
DAWN
That spell didn't look so hard
Willow looks at Dawn, slightly annoyed. Only for a second though, as she realizes Dawn didn't mean anything with it.
WILLOW
It's harder than it looks
DAWN
What do we do now?
Willow's face suddenly lightens up.
WILLOW
I think I have one at home. I use it as a conjuring orb.
DAWN
How do you use an orb for conjuring?
WILLOW
Do you really want me to get into that now?
Dawn smiles.
WILLOW
I'll drop you off at Xander's and then I'll go to our house
DAWN
No way, I'm coming with you
Dawn immediately walks towards the door and walks out.
DAWN *shouts*
You coming?
Willow is completely baffled. She opens her mouth to say something but no words come out of her mouth.
After a few seconds, she sighs and follows Dawn out.

At the Harris residence, Andrew and Xander are fully dressed in the living room. When the doorbel rings, Xander opens
the door for Giles and Kennedy. They both seem to be a bit out of breath. Kennedy looks around for a few seconds.
KENNEDY *breathing heavily*
Where's Willow?
XANDER
She's at the Magic Box with Dawn. She'll be back soon.
KENNEDY
Thank god
Kennedy sits down on one of the chairs in the room, visibly relieved that Willow managed to escape Glory.
GILES
Now that we have a minute for reflection.... what just happened?
KENNEDY
I sat down
GILES *dry*
Yes very funny. I'm talking about Glory. You said she was inside your house?
Andrew gulps.
ANDREW
She was?
Kennedy nods.
ANDREW
I missed that part
XANDER
Yeah, me too. Will didn't mention that.
KENNEDY
Well... as soon as we entered, Willow sensed that the anti-violence spell was gone
Everyone is listening closely.
KENNEDY
Glory was inside. She said she was invited. So we ran out and then we saw three... creatures.
They were with Glory. We barely got away.
GILES *serious*
Tell me about these creatures.
KENNEDY
One was definitely a demon, very fat and an extremely ugly face. One was a vampire and one looked
human. The human... or at least the human-looking one... was a witch.
XANDER
Can I just say, Damn!
KENNEDY
Oh, I almost forgot. That fat demon went inside but he never came out. When that vampire went
inside, she got het head cut off right on the doorstep. My guess is that fat demon killed her.
GILES
Well, that means one less to worry about. And I suppose that it was that witch that broke the
anto-violence spell... but how did Glory get in? The barrier that blocks vampires from entering
is one of the most powerful ones of all. I highly doubt anyone could break it... not even Willow.
ANDREW
Didn't she say she was invited?
KENNEDY
Do you really think me, Willow or Dawn would be stupid enough to invite her in?
XANDER
Hey Giles, didn't Glory share a body with a human, kinda like with Ben?
GILES
Yes
XANDER
And if that human would be invited, would that mean that...
GILES
Of course! That would mean Glory would get invited.
KENNEDY
Okay, time out. We rarely have anyone over.
GILES
Had any visitors the last couple of days?
KENNEDY
Not really...... except that Mitch came by today. I kinda invited him in
GILES
What?
KENNEDY *defensive*
Hey, he has come by several times before and he came by during the day. What was I supposed to do?
Xander, Andrew and Giles stare at Kennedy, letting her know that was a dumb question.
KENNEDY
Okay okay, you're right. I shouldn't verbally invite people in.
GILES
That is a healthy Sunnydale rule.
XANDER
Let's not get carried away. What if that witch is stronger than you think and she *did* manage to
break the vampire barrier?
GILES
Maybe Willow can do a spell to see if Glory got invited or if the barrier was broken
ANDREW
I'll feel a lot better when Willow and Dawn are here
XANDER
Yeah, I'll feel safer too when Will is here
Kennedy smiles because she knows Andrew was actually referring more to Dawn than to Willow.
ANDREW
Do you think everything's okay with them?
XANDER
I'm sure they're fine

At Kate's headquarters, we arrive just in time to see Mitch changing into Glory. Kate smiles.
KATE
Welcome back, great one
GLORY
Spare me that crap and tell me you killed the witch
KATE *a little scared*
Well... no
GLORY
I'm going to do something about that
KATE
Do you know where they are?

Willow and Dawn arrive at the Summers' house.
DAWN
Where is it?
WILLOW
In my room.... come on, I wanna get out of here as fast as possible
DAWN
Right
Willow and Dawn hastly move inside and up to Willow's room. Dawn and Willow both run into Willow's room.
Willow walks towards her desk and takes a crystal ball from one of the drawers.
WILLOW
Okay I got it. Now let's get back to Xander's place.
GLORY (O.S)
Why the rush?
Willow and Dawn turn towards the door and see Glory standing in the doorway. A second later, Kate steps right next
to Glory. Willow looks around and realizes they're completely trapped.
WILLOW
Batuo abstineo ferio
Willow stretches her right hand towards Kate and Glory but nothing happens. Willow has a surprised look on his face.
Then she sees a slight shimmering in front of Kate and Glory, it seems to be some sort of energy wall.
Kate smiles widely. Kate lifts her hands up in the sky. Meanwhile, Dawn searches the room for a weapon.
KATE
Imprecor aconitum dissolution naturae
Suddenly, a small cloud of green gas surrounds Willow. She tries to move out but she can't move a step. Within one second,
she falls to the floor. She doesn't move.
DAWN
Willow!
After the gas disappears, Kate puts the barrier down and Kate and Glory step inside.
KATE
Hi cutie
Dawn's look at Kate is a mixture of fear and anger.
DAWN *more scared*
What did you do to her?
KATE
You know, I wish I could say it'll be quick and painless...
Kate begins to laugh.
KATE *smiling widely*
Oh, who am I kidding. It'll be wicked painfull... until she dies
Kate steps towards Dawn to grab her but she didn't expect what happened next. Using a letter opener she found in one
of Willow's drawers, she stabs Kate, aiming for the heart. Kate is so surprised that she doesn't manage to evade
Dawn's blow and the letter opener is buried in Kate's chest. Kate gasps in pain. Dawn takes a step back. Kate screams
as she pulls the knife from her chest. Glory approaches Dawn and grabs her by the throat.
KATE
Don't kill her!
Glory looks at Kate, partly wondering why and partly surprised by the fact that she just gave her an order.
KATE *angry*
I have something a little more paingfull in mind
Kate drops the knife on the floor. Glory drags Dawn out of the room. Kate turns towards Willow, rolling her over so
she's facing the ceiling.
KATE
While you're busy with the dying, I'm gonna be busy with that little brat. *smiles* Think about that.
And I know what you're thinking, maybe my friends will save me. Not gonna happen. The cure has been
lost for hundreds of years. I've searched for years and never found it.
Willow looks at Kate. She is obviously very weak and almost unable to speak.
WILLOW *very weak*
Please.... why....
Kate doesn't answer this and moves out of the room. She doesn't notice the crystal ball on the floor.

We see Glory and Kate leave the house with Dawn, who is still struggling. Radament is watching from the house across
the street.
RADAMENT *calm*
Dammit
When Glory, Kate and Dawn are out of sight, Radament practically runs towards the Summers' house and enters. The door
was still open so he didn't have to break down the door. He immediately walks upstairs and looks in every room until
he sees Willow on the floor in her own room. He stands in the doorway and watches Willow trying to crawl over to the
telephone that is on the desk. She pulls the cord and the phone falls on the floor. She's lucky enough not to damage
the phone. She manages to press a phone number.

At Xander's place, everyone is still in the holding pattern. Everyone is getting worried.
KENNEDY *worried*
What's taking so long?
GILES
Not to worry
Giles face says something else however. He *is* worried. When the phone rings, Xander picks it up within the second.
XANDER *speaks fast*
Yeah......... we're on our way
Xander hangs up the phone. Everyone looks at him. The look on his face says that it is not good news.
XANDER
We gotta go to Will's place... now
Xander immediately walks towards the front door and walks out. Everyone runs after him.
GILES
Xander, stop for a second. Was that Willow?
Xander stops in his tracks.
XANDER
Glory attacked them. She has Dawn and Willow is hurt badly. We gotta go now
Without questions, they all follow him to the car and drive off.

They all arrive at casa Summers. They all rush upstairs and find Willow on the floor with the phone still in her hand.
Radament is nowhere to be seen.
XANDER
Will!
He runs over to Willow and turns her facing him. She can barely keep her eyes open. Giles also comes over to Willow.
XANDER
Hang on Will
GILES
What happened?
WILLOW *weak*
Poison... spell
Giles checks Willow's pulse and then notices her veins are starting to get wider and better visible.
GILES
Oh dear lord!
XANDER
I hate it when you say that
KENNEDY
What's going on?
GILES
It's a poison spell, like she said. The spell roughly translated means Ahrke's Revenge. There is no
known cure. The cure was lost hundreds of years ago.
KENNEDY
Are you saying we can't do anything?
GILES
The cure had five components and one of them was wolfsbane. The other four ingredients were lost...
ANDREW
How about these?
Andrew stands in the doorway, holding up a piece of paper. He walks over to Giles and hands it to him.
GILES
This could be the cure. Where did you get this?
ANDREW
It was pinned on the door. Didn't you see it?
XANDER
It could have been planted by Glory
GILES
Why? If she wanted Willow dead she could have just killed her.
KENNEDY
Look, we don't really have a choice here. You have all that stuff at the Magic Box?
GILES
Yes I do. The ingredients are quite common. I'm on my way.
KENNEDY *to Giles*
Is she gonna make it?
GILES
If the cure is right, she has a good chance.
Having said that, he leaves. Andrew walks over to Willow, kneels down beside her.
ANDREW
What happened to Dawn?
WILLOW *weak*
Took her
ANDREW
Was she okay? Do you know where they went?
XANDER
Hey! Ease off.
Andrew's expression is serious and a little sad.
ANDREW
I want her back. I'll get her back.
XANDER
I didn't even know you two were so close, it's almost like....
Andrew looks at Xander, telling with his look that Xander is right.
XANDER
So that's why you didn't wanna talk about it
Xander turns towards Willow again. He starts talking to Willow. Telling her to stay awake and to hold on countless times.

At Glory's place, Glory, Kate and Dawn enter. Glory's minions are there, waiting for her.
MINION 1
Great Glorificus, we have good news
GLORY
You finally figured out how to get this vampirer thing out of me?
MINION 2
...no, your unholiness.... We found you a way home
Glory smiles widely.
GLORY
How?
MINION 1
The last time, you used the key to break down the barriers that seperate dimensions. It had to happen
at a specific time and place.
GLORY
I was there, you moron!
MINION 1 *talks fast*
Well, a while ago, we have found a way to use the key to open one gate. When a black moon shines,
the key's energy can flow into a specific place and open a gate between this world and another.
GLORY
Then why didn't you say that before?
MINION 3
The problem was that we didn't know how to get the portal to your world..... now we do.
GLORY
Finally! How!
MINION 2
Magic, great one. Magic
MINION 1
So now we need the key and a witch...
KATE
Which we both got
Kate holds Dawn by the throat to stop her from running.
MINION 1
... and then we have to wait for the black moon; the lunar eclipse.... which is tomorrow night
KATE
Just make sure it's painfull for her
Kate squeezes Dawn's throat a little to make Dawn gasp.

At the Summers' place, Giles has returned with the ingredients on the list. He doesn't go upstairs, but into the kitchen
to make a potion, using the ingredients he brought. It doesn't take him long. In two minutes, he hastly moves upstairs
and into Willow's room. Xander is still talking to Willow so it seems she is still alive.
GILES
I need some room Xander
Xander moves out of the way and watches as Giles pours some of the potion in Willow's throat. With trouble, Willow
swallows the fluid. A couple of seconds later, her body starts to move violently. Giles has to hold her down.
Giles gets a worried look on his face. What if this was not the cure?
GILES
You three...
Giles looks at Xander, Andrew and Kennedy.
GILES
Help me hold her down
Giles realizes that this potion is the only chance they're gonna get. With Kennedy, Andrew and Xander holding Willow
down, her pours the rest of the potion in her throat. Immediately after she swallowed it, she begins to shake.
Xander, Kennedy and Andrew hold her down well so she doesn't hurt herself.
XANDER
Hang on Will
KENNEDY
You can beat this
After more than a minute, Willow stops shaking and just lies down on the floor. Giles notices the veins in her arm have
turned back to normal. Willow has fallen asleep, completely exhausted. Xander, Kennedy and Andrew move away from Willow.
ANDREW
Why is she not waking up?
XANDER
She's tired. She needs to rest.
ANDREW
That's really neat and all, but aren't we forgetting Dawn? We have to rescue her.
KENNEDY
He has a point Xander
XANDER
I get that. But other than getting killed, I don't see what we can do about it.
ANDREW
Then I'm going alone
XANDER
Go where? Willow is the only one who can track and defeat them.
GILES
Xander's right. We all need to get some rest. We will track Glory tomorrow.
KENNEDY
Let's get out of here. Glory can enter here and I would feel better if we were not here
GILES
Agreed.
Xander walks towards Willow and lifts her in his arms. She doesn't even wake up. They all move out of the room.
Kennedy takes the crystal ball off the floor, figuring it is important.

The next morning, at the Harris home, Willow is walking in the Harris living room. Giles, Kennedy and Xander are already
waiting there.
GILES *smiles*
Good morning Willow
Kennedy runs over and hugs Willow.
KENNEDY
Thank god you're okay
XANDER
You gave us quite a scare Will. You feeling alright?
WILLOW
I feel fine
GILES
That's good because we have more problems
KENNEDY *soft*
Dawn
GILES
Xander, you get Andrew
WILLOW
I need that crystal ball to make a Dagon Sphere.
KENNEDY
I got it
WILLOW
Oh god...
GILES
What's wrong?
WILLOW
The spell must be cast by two people
Xander comes running into the living room.
XANDER
You guys ready for more bad news? Andrew's gone
