WILLPOWER PART 9: WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS

We are back with Xander, Willow and Kennedy. Xander and Willow are still standing with the blue door.
kennedy, who has been running around the room, is now at the opposite side of the room.
Suddenly, the blue door opens. Willow and Xander take a step back when they see who it is.
BUFFY *very confused*
What?

WILLOW *also confused*
Buffy?
BUFFY *confused*
Willow? Is it really you?
WILLOW *comforting*
Yes, it's me... and Xander and Kennedy.
BUFFY *confused*
I...I...don't understand.
WILLOW
We got trapped here. How did you get here?
BUFFY *confused*
I.. don't know
WILLOW
How long have you been here?
BUFFY *confused*
I don't know.... months
WILLOW *to Xander and kennedy*
Well, at least time is the same here.
Buffy and the gang shares a moment. They all hug and talk about how they have been looking for her for months.
After a few minutes, the conversation turns back to the situation they're in. Buffy seems a little more relaxed.
BUFFY
...I remember this guy. It was only a flash.
KENNEDY
A black guy with blonde hair?
BUFFY
Yeah. I was fighting some demons when all of a sudden, this fog surrounded me. I tried to
get out but it sucked me in. Last thing I saw was that guy standing there.
Buffy walks through the room nervously. She has obviously been here for some time.
XANDER
So... any idea how to get out of here?
BUFFY *smiling slightly*
If I did, do you think I'd still be here? I tried all three doors
WILLOW
Uh Buffy? There are four doors.
BUFFY
The 'Halls of the Future' is locked. I tried to open it, but it won't budge.
Willow steps in front of the door and holds her hands against her shoulders, palms facing forward.
WILLOW
Avoc mareth to mah!
She pushes her hands forwards. The door seems to shake for a short while, but it doesn't open.
Willow gets ready to try the same spell again. She stands in the same position. Her eyes turn black as
she is clearly gathering energy for a massive blow.
WILLOW
Avoc mareth to mah!
Again, Willow pushes her hands forward and we can actually see a forcefield moving forward. But it doesn't
do anything. The door remains as closed as before. Not even a scrath can be seen. Willow's eyes return to normal.
WILLOW *breathing heavily.
Damn! That door must be magically sealed.
Xander walks to the door.
XANDER
Maybe I can pick the lock. Xander takes the handle and the door opens.
BUFFY
Okay, now that is not funny!
WILLOW
How did you do that?
XANDER *smiling wide*
I guess we all know who has the magic power now.
WILLOW
Let's check it out.
KENNEDY
I don't like this. What if there is something bad behind that door?
BUFFY
Well, you're probably right, but there is no exit behind the other three doors. You rather wait here?
XANDER
Come on Kennedy. It's not like we really have a choice.
Kennedy realizes that Xander is right. The gang walks to the door. Willow steps through it first, followed by
Buffy, then Kennedy and finally Xander. They find themselves in some place that looks exactly like Sunnydale.
But there is something terribly wrong. The sky is black. Not just dark... but plain black.
They are in an alley. They look behind them and see a door standing in the middle of the alley.
WILLOW
At least we'll be able to go back
As if proving her wrong, the door disappears.
XANDER
She had to say it!
WILLOW
Uh... Oops!

Let's take look around.
BUFFY
Hold on a minute pink ranger. If this place is anything like the other places....
KENNEDY
What were the other places like?
Buffy is about to answer when a man walks past them. He seems to be in hurry.
KENNEDY
uh, hello?
MAN
What? Is there something you....
The man suddenly sees Willow standing there and begins to literally tremble in fear.
XANDER
What's wrong?
The man keep looking at Willow as if he expects her to kill him any minute now.
MAN
Please...no
WILLOW
Please no...what?
MAN
Don't kill me. I have a wife and a daughter. Please.
BUFFY *to the man*
What do you mean?
The man keeps his eyes on Willow. The man keeps his gaze locked on Willow. Without warning,
he starts running and within seconds, the man is out of sight.
KENNEDY
I missed something here, didn't I?
XANDER
He was afraid of you, Will!
The gang proceeds carefully. They walk out of the alley and look over the main street. Except for a few brave people who
seem to be in just as big a hurry as the previous man, the streets are almost empty.
Willow walks to a woman.
WILLOW
Excuse me...
She doesn't get another word out of her mouth as the woman immediately runs away. Buffy walks toward Willow.
BUFFY
Maybe I should do the talking?
Willow steps back into the alley while the rest of the gang stands in the street. When another man passes,
Buffy adresses him.
BUFFY
Sir? Can we ask you something?
The man quickly looks around him.
MAN *talks fast*
What do you want?
BUFFY
We're new in town. What happened here?
MAN *talks fast*
Best if you just get out then. It's not safe here.
BUFFY
What's going on?
MAN *talks fast*
Witch..
BUFFY
You mean Willow?
MAN *talks fast*
Yes, she's been killing for months now. Everyone who stood up against her has died.
BUFFY
Well, I'm here to help now
MAN *calming down*
You can't stop her. Too many have tried. All have failed.
BUFFY
Well, she's fighting a slayer now
MAN
That won't help. She already killed a slayer.
BUFFY
What? What slayer?
MAN
I never met her, but they called her Buffy. Rumors go that she was a friend of the witch.
BUFFY *shocked*
Thanks for your help.
The man quickly wonders off. The gang regroups in the alley.
BUFFY
Okay, I'm not liking this. Willow is some uber-evil and I am... well... uber-dead.
WILLOW
What happened?
BUFFY *still a bit shocked*
That man said you killed me.

Dawn and Giles are at the magic box, researching.
DAWN
Aha!
GILES
You've found something?
DAWN
Yes, something about the black fog. It's a portal to a place only described as 'the Mirrorworld'.
GILES
Let me guess, not a good place?!
DAWN
It doesn't say, but I'll take a guess and say, not a good place.

Back to Xander, Willow, Kennedy and Buffy.
WILLOW
Okay, let's think about this. Shenk imprisoned us here *pointing at Xander, Kennedy and herself*
and probably you too *poining at Buffy*.
WILLOW
We arrived in a room with four doors. We took the one to 'the halls of the future'. Then we
arrived in this world, where I am the big evil and Buffy is dead.
BUFFY
That kind of sums it up.
WILLOW
Then where am I... the other me? And why were we trapped here in the first place?
XANDER
Come on Will, he just wanted you out of the way. Me and Kennedy just happened to follow.
WILLOW
Maybe.... but.... oh god!
BUFFY
What?
WILLOW
We left that guy with Dawn and Giles.
KENNEDY
No we didn't. I saw Dawn kill him... just before we left.
BUFFY
How about we move on to the more urgent matter... getting out of here. Any ideas?
WILLOW
Maybe I know... she knows
XANDER
Are you sure that's a good idea. I mean, she could hurt you.
WILLOW
We have to try. Or do you have a better idea?
KENNEDY
We can be a little more patient and not just rush in
Willow is visibly annoyed by Kennedy's remark.
WILLOW
I have a strong feeling that the sooner we leave this place, the better.
BUFFY
I agree. *to Willow* We are talking about you. If you were evil and powerfull
Where would you live?
WILLOW *looking down*
I don't know..
XANDER
How can you not know?
BUFFY
Come on Will... just think about it. Everyone in the town is afraid of you. You killed
me and a lot of others. Where would you live?
Willow seems to be thinking hard. She has her eys closed and tries to imagine it.
WILLOW
I think I'd just be where I live now. At your place.
XANDER
Okay, let's go
KENNEDY
Wait! Scenario... you meet that other Willow. What are you gonna do?
WILLOW
Well.... Let's just hope it won't come to that. Let's go
KENNEDY *mumbles*
Right, let's hope..
Kennedy follows but is not happy about it.

We're back at the magic box. Dawn and Giles are both getting frustrated. Besides the scrap of information, they
haven't found out anything. It's in the middle of the day now. People are walking on the street but there is
no-one in the Magic Box. The frontdoor of the Magic Box opens. Two people walk in.
GILES
We're clos....
WESLEY
Hello Giles
DAWN *smiles*
Hi. Thank you for coming.
We have a look at the persons. It's Wesley and Fred.
Fred is a young, skinny woman with glasses who is carrying a couple of books.
Wesley looks very different fro when he left Sunnydale four and a half year ago. He has a starting beard and
his expression seems... tougher. he is also not dressed in his usual business suit anymore. He is now wearing
a black leather jacket.
WESLEY
Angel is at a hotel. He'll come by at night.
Wesley walks towards Dawn.
WESLEY
You said something about a portal. And it sucked Xander, Willow and some other girl in.
DAWN
Yes
WESLEY
What did it look like?
DAWN
It looked like a black fog. This guy cast it there.
WESLEY
And, where is this guy now?
Giles points into the corner of the room where the dead body of Shenk still lies. He still has the arrow in his head.
WESLEY
Nice shot. Was that you Giles?
DAWN
No, actually, it was me.
WESLEY
Well, he won't be very talkative now, with the being dead and all. Do we know anything about him?
GILES
Yes, his name was Shenk Pathos and he used to be a member of the high council of Warlocks
WESLEY
That's a powerful group.
GILES
Not anymore. He killed most of them. We don't know why.
DAWN *breaking in the conversation*
We already found something about the black fog.
WESLEY
Yes?
DAWN
It's a portal to somewhere called the Mirrorworld
WESLEY
I've read about that.
DAWN
Then let me jump right to the most important part, how do we get them back?
WESLEY
Well, I don't know. I'll have to consult my books.

We see Willow walking through the streets of Sunnydale alone. This seems to be the Willow that arrived here through
the portal. Her eyes are still completely black
WILLOW *smiling and mumbling to herself*
About time that runt got rid of her.
We see Mitch walking in the street. He sees Willow on the other side of the street
MITCH
Hey
Willow doesn't notice him and she keeps walking and mumbling. Mitch keep on walking too.

WESLEY

DAWN *to Fred*
He actually says eureka?
FRED *to Dawn*
Every once in a while.
GILES *to Wesley*
You found something?
WESLEY
There are spells to open portals between the two worlds. But every portal only works one way.
FRED
So you mean that if we opened a portal here, we could go in there, but we can't use the same
portal to go out?
WESLEY
Yes, that's what I mean. But once there, you can open a portal to get back here.
DAWN
And how do we open these portals?
WESLEY
Magic. I'm afraid magic is the only way.
DAWN
How does the spell work?
Wesley hands Dawn over the book he was reading. Dawn reads over the text.
DAWN
I can do it.
Giles takes the book from Dawn and starts reading.
GILES
Absolutely not. This portal requires dark, dark magic to open. And you...
DAWN
..you think I'm not good enough for it?
GILES
That's not what I meant. I meant that you don't have the power or the experience for this.
DAWN *sarcastic*
Yes, that makes it sound so much better.... what did you have in mind then?
GILES
What do you mean?
DAWN
If you don't want me to open the portal, who's gonna open it?
FRED
I hate to say it, but I think we don't have a choice.
GILES
Very well. But for god's sake be careful.
WESLEY
I propose that we wait until nightfall and then me and Angel will go through the portal you open.
The door to the magic box opens. Giles looks at the door and sees Mitch standing there.
GILES
Oh, hello
MITCH *to Dawn*
I thought we had a date last night
DAWN
Something has happened.
MITCH
Okay.... what?
DAWN
Well....
GILES
Willow, Xander and Kennedy have been sucked through a portal.
MITCH
Portal? What do you mean?
WESLEY
A gateway to another world. Xander, Willow and Kennedy are no longer in this world.
MITCH
What, are you kidding, I just saw Willow half an hour ago!
WESLEY
You've seen Willow?
MITCH
Didn't I just say that? I saw Willow. I said hi, but she didn't seem to hear me.
DAWN
Care to give an explanation?
GILES
Well, it's either Willow.... or it's not
DAWN
Thanks Giles! That clears everything right up.
GILES *to Mitch*
You didn't see Xander or Kennedy?
MITCH
No, she was alone
WESLEY
Wouldn't Willow have come here?
DAWN
Maybe something is wrong with her.
FRED
Or maybe it's not Willow, but just something that looks like her.
DAWN *making a joke*
Yeah, an evil Doppelganger. Like that never happened before.

Willow, Kennedy and Xander arrive at the Summers' house. From the outside, it looks the same as it used to be.
Buffy tries to open the door but it won't open.
XANDER
Allow me girls.
Xander walks confidently to the door and tries to open it, but it won't open.
BUFFY
Having a problem Xand?
WILLOW *smiling*
I probably just installed a spell so that only I can enter
Willow walks to the door, opens it and walks inside as if there was nothing wrong. Willow keeps the door open.
WILLOW
I invite you in...... maybe it helps
The gang tries to enter, but a force field stops them.
WILLOW
I'll check the house. You wait here.
Willow doesn't wait for an answer and moves inside.
We have a look inside. Magic stuff is lying all over the place. Still, the place doesn't look like a mess.
Willow walks upstairs and checks some of the rooms. Most of the rooms are exactly the same as it was. As if
nothing happened. She finally check a room that she immediately recognizes as hers.
Willow sees some books lying open on the desk. Willow reads through the pages.
Suddenly, she heard a noise in the next room. A room she hasn't checked yet. She walks out of the room and to the
next room. Willow looks inside and, much to both their surprise, sees Dawn stading in the center of the room looking at
Willow with a mix of hate and fear.
WILLOW
Dawn?
Dawn looks around the room. She wants to run, but she realizes that the only exit is the door and she has to get past
Willow for that.
WILLOW
Dawn, is that you?
DAWN *afraid*
Yes
WILLOW
Look Dawn, something strange is going on here.
DAWN
Not strange, terrible... and you're it!
Willow knows that Dawn is talking about the other Willow, but still.. hearing Dawn saying that sort of thing about
her makes her sad. She looks down at the floor. Dawn notices this.
DAWN *gaining courage*
Don't pretend like you suddenly started caring. Just kill me and get over it!
WILLOW
I'm not going to kill you. I don't kill people... well except for that one time.
Dawn is looking at Willow. Her expression turns more and more into hate.
DAWN
Then what about Buffy... and Xander... and Giles... and....
WILLOW
I didn't kill them. Buffy and Xander are right outside.
DAWN
That has got be the lamest trick you ever....
WILLOW
Then why don't you just look. What could you possibly have to loose.
Dawn realizes that Willow is telling the truth. If Willow wanted, she could do anything to Dawn now.
Besides, playing along with Willow would probably keep her alive a little longer.
DAWN
Okay, you go first
Dawn follows Willow downstairs and outside. All that time, both girls keep a very close eye on the other.
Both expect the other to attack any minute. When they come outisde, Dawn sees Buffy, Xander and Kennedy.
DAWN
This is a trick!
WILLOW
No trick
BUFFY
Dawn?
Buffy, having not seen Dawn in months, runs over to Dawn and gives her a hug. As soon as she does, all doubts seem
to flow away from Dawn as she realizes Buffy is real. After another hugging session with Xander, Dawn looks at Kennedy.
DAWN *to Buffy*
Who's that?
KENNEDY
That.. is Kennedy.
DAWN
Right...
KENNEDY
This dimension didn't do much for your social skills, huh?
WILLOW
Kennedy!
DAWN
What the hell is going on?
XANDER
Ok Dawn, this is going to sound weird, but we come from a different world and somehow, we
got stuck here.
KENNEDY
Okay, I don't mean to break this little moment, but might I suggest we rebond somewhere not here.
BUFFY
Yeah, she's right. What if the other Willow comes here?
DAWN
You lost me... again.
BUFFY
Look, we got stuck here, but that doesn't mean that the other Willow is gone.
DAWN *to Willow*
So, you didn't change. There's just two of you.
WILLOW
Yeah, but I wonder where she is

We are back in the normal world (or so it seems). Giles, Wesley, Dawn and Fred are studying; waiting for nightfall.
Then, Angel enters. Angel says a quick hello to everyone in his usual way. He knows what is going to happen so
Wesley must have called him to explain the details.
ANGEL
Okay, let's do this
Wesley steps over to Angel. They are both carrying a big broadsword.
ANGEL
You know, last time I tried something like this, my weapons didn't travel along.
WESLEY
They're just a precaution.
FRED
Okay, so you're both clear on the plan?
Angel holds up a piece of paper.
ANGEL
Find Willow, give her this...
WESLEY
And if Angel looses his, I have a copy
GILES
Okay then, Dawn are you ready?
DAWN
As I'll ever been.
Dawn starts chanting in some unknows language, but after a few seconds, Dawn's chanting stops when someone
enters the magic box.
GILES
We're... oh dear...
We see Willow walking in the Magic Box through the front door. She walks right up to the gang.
Her eyes are still black.
WILLOW *smiles*
What are you doing?
WESLEY
Getting back our friends
Willow smiles, but very suddenly, the smile disappears
WILLOW
I don't think so... I like them to be there
Willow points her hands at Dawn.
WILLOW
SSjath!
A blue energy emerges from Willow's hands. The energy blast hits Dawn..........
