Umm..shouldn't you be finting or something right now?... A little voice inside Virgil's head asked. He couldn't help but grin when he came to a sudden realizaion: so much of what happened since they'd meet seemed so improbably in hindsight, that little that could possibly happen could surprise him that much. After all, if they surived all that, they were pretty much destined for each other. Besides, he had a surprise of his own...
But in the meantime, he repid...by kissing her again. Finally, he pulled away, and reopened the hatch. As he steppd out, he could see calenderi's shadow flit over him, and felt two hard objects drop into his right hand. He quickly closed his hand around them before Redd could see what they were.
Right now they stood on a little service platdorm in front of the mecha, about five stories above the deck, with people hurrying about below.
"Kinda reminds me of the ball...the part on the balcony, I mean." He drew next to her, taking her left hnd in his right. "Kinda surprised myself when I commented on you, um..."assets" like that." He grinned. "And I've got one more surprise up my sleeve..."
Even as he spoke, he slid the ring onto her hand. He then gave her one split second to realize what he'd done berore he pulled her into yer another kiss. As he did so, the stone on her ring began to glow violet...while the stone on the smaller ring (a band for himself) shone wit a golden light...
