When Aunt Yoyita dies during a visit to Guant�namo, Gina, along with Yoyita�s childhood sweet-heart, the aging C�ndido, must take the body to Havana. To their annoyance, Gina�s overbearing husband Adolfo, a punctilious undertaker with political ambitions, takes charge of the journey. On the road, they keep crossing paths with Mariano, a playboy trucker and former student of Gina who was madly in love with her. Before they reach Havana, Gina realizes she will have to choose between Adolfo and Mariano: does Aunt Yoyita�s life help her decide? A satire about life in Cuba directed by Tom�s Guti�rrez Alea.

Remembering the Siege of Baler: A Tribute to Spanish Gallantry and Filipino Magnanimity

The Sleepy town of Baler in the eastern coast of Luzon became Spain�s last outpost in Luzon in 1899. A detachment of around 50 Spanish soldiers stubbornly held out for more than eleven months defying terrible odds, from Filipino bullets, boredom and diseases, refusing to believe in Spain�s loss of the Philippines. The gallant stand of this isolated group prompted General Emilio Aguinaldo to issue a decree calling the surviving defenders of the garrison led by their commander Lt. Saturnino Martin Cerezo � not as prisoners of war, but as friends.�
