Osmel Souza could not have been any happier when two of his trainees snatched the Title and the First Runner-up position. There is now a resurgence of the Venezuelan trained beauties in Panama this year. Could it be a repeat in Ecuador next year?

SHE HAD IT COMING AS SHE SAID IF I AM DESTINED TO BE MISS UNIVERSE 2003 IT WOULD COME TRUE. AND SHE SAID I AM HERE IN PANAMA FOR THE TITLE. WHAT AN ATTITUDE. AND SHE MADE IT.HAIL TO THE NEW MISS UNIVERSE 2003

SHE ALMOST DID NOT MAKE IT. BUT DRAMATICALLY A SPONSOR CAME TO HER RESCUE. THERE WERE A LOT OF GOSSIPS IN HUSH TONES THAT SHE WILL CHANGE HER WARDROBE ONCE SHE GETS INTO THE FINALS. BUT MARIANGEL SHOWED THAT LESS IS MORE. THE UNIVERSE WAS AT HER PALM ALREADY BUT MISS DOMINICAN REPUBLIC CAN NOT BE DENIED HER PLACE UNDER THE SUN. NICE JOB MISS VENEZUELA

IT IS SUCH A PITY THAT ON ITS NEXT YEAR SOUTH AFRICA ENDED UP AS SECOND RUNNER-UP AGAIN. LAST YEAR, THEY HAD A GIRL THAT COULD HAVE BEEN THE MISS UNIVERSE BUT HER COLDNESS TURNED OFF THE JUDGES. THIS YEAR, SOUTH AFRICA HAD A VERY BUBBLY, WARM AND SPIRITED CANDIDATE AND YET SHE WAS AGAIN ECLIPSED BY TWO LATINAS. WAY TO GO SOUTH AFRICA. JUST KEEP ON TRYING AND WHO KNOWS, YOU HAVE THE CROWN NEXT YEAR. HOWEVER, WE HAVE TO ONGRATULATE CINDY NEIL FOR HER EXEMPLARY PERFORMANCE.

A DISTANT CHOICE AMONG LOCAL PUNDITS/ ALTHOUGH MOST EXPERTS PLACED HER IN THEIR LISTS. I AM SURPRISED WITH THIS CANDIDATE. EVEN WITH A SO-SO INTERVIEW, SHE MESMERIZED THE JUDGES AS WELL AS THE AUDIENCE. WITH HER GOOD SHOWING IN EVENING GOWN AND SWIMSUIT, SHE MADE IT. AND WHAT A PERFORMANCE.

SHE COULD HAVE BEEN THE NEW MISS UNIVERSE. BUT OH OH OH, SHE GROPED AND FALTERED ON THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP TOWARDS ANOTHER MIKIMOTO CROWN. WITH HER GOOD SKILLS ON THE RAMP SHE COULD HAVE BEEN. BUT THAT'S WHERE ANY CONTEST GOES. CONGRATULATIONS MIYAKO FOR THAT VERITABLE FINISH.
