Dan G.
When I read the BB sites, they talk about the history of BB's living on rual farms, inbred to type, untill recently when it was corupted through further crossbreeding.
My interest in BB's came while searching for an intermidiant type of old bull and mastiff types, as I want to re-create the old or a simalar Bullen-bissier type, which is closly related to the Bullen-bigiter (sic). There are a few BB's that resemble this type. An interesting pic is on www.moloss.com on the bull-mastiff page. It's a pic of a clean bull-mastiff, or is it a BB. It's the one sitting next to a little girl.
As we know, the AKC Bull-Mastiff was created from 1850 on, after the original bulldog was breed down with pug or terrier types. The AB was brought to the Southern US, as a farm utility dog, (South Africa,Southern US)from England around 1733 on. It too has been a bit corupted, but not as much as the BB. That's just my opinion. Ofcourse, English Mastiffs have been corupted. It takes a long time to re-create or clean out unwanted traits. I still want this type of dog.
