Subject: If someone wants to help..

Michelle prompted me to write this after her message to me. These boards are designed to help people. Not see if everyone can fight about everything from the color of their dogs toes to who said what. These boards can either help us or hurt us in many ways. Those that post informative posts about the dogs or questions they may have are excluded from my next comment. Over the last 5 years I have watched these boards go from learning about the breed to nothing more than nasty vindictive smearing contests of who can out twist the other ones words. I myself have been guilty of participating in some of these wars of words. None of this benefits the Boerboel in anyway. It just shows how childish the human race really is. I am speaking to everyone one now. I don't really give a flip which registry you choose or who you buy your dog from. They are all Boerboels and we are all boerboel owners. I hear about all the politics in other breeds and the boerboel is just as bad as any of them out there. Some are maybe worse. It's human nature to be competitive but we are all really doing nothing more than hurting ourselves in the long run. I don't post anymore because I don't want to argue with anyone, fight, or try to upstage anyone. When I do have time to read these boards I have noticed one thing. Everyone would rather fight than help someone with an honest question that needs a little help. The questions get ignored while the battle rages on. Everyone is too busy fighting to notice that someone that owns a boerboel needs help. Shame on all of us for not helping that person(s). If all there was to life and owning dogs was fighting how many of us do you think would want to even look at a dog let alone own one. I am begining to realize that people are not as nice as our animals. The back stabbing, malicious rumors, that goes on is absolutely out of hand. I am a pretty direct person and appreciate those who are direct in return. However, I don't appreciate people that take a small issue and turn it in to one of the biggest fights on the planet. If you have a problem with your dog. Call the breeder. If they won't help you with the problem find someone who will. I guarantee these boards will do nothing but add fuel to the fires already burning. Also don't be so quick to jump in and gang up on someone just because your opinion differs. Everyone has an opinion. Just because yours is different doesn't mean that person is wrong, their opinion is just different. The screaming matches that rage on these boards is deafening to the general public when they are trying to decide what type of dog to get. Whisper instead of scream. You will get more attention. All of us should be trying to e-d-u-c-a-t-e instead of infuriate people. When these boards went to a nasty, screaming, back stabbing, quarrel all the time I lost time and energy for them. I don't want to fight I would rather help someone with a problem than get on these boards an announce every little piece of dirty laundry I have been told so that a huge argument can ensue. The bottom line is I don't have time for it and the rest of you shouldn't have time for it either. Spend your time educating people and helping them with their puppy problems or health problems. No one wins if everyone argues about the problem and does nothing about the problem. The problem is still there. There have been many people called and asked me questions about their puppies. People who have not even bought a dog from me. I try to help them. I don't turn them away and these boards shouldn't either. Answer people's questions, help them and stop all the fighting and bickering. We all win if everyone stops all of this fighting and negative attention. There are those that will laugh at this post and there are those that will take it to heart like I did. If you know some thing that someone told you. Wait until you see if for yourself. Be patient with people. Some truly don't get it and will need help. Our breed is still in the very young stages of developement. Quit yelling at the top of your lungs my dog is the best on the planet because I said so. Great if you think so. I am glad you like your dog and you think it is wonderful. But your dog may not work for someone else's needs. Dogs are individuals just as people are. They all have different personalities just like we do. There are good dogs and bad dogs in all breeds. There are sick dogs and healthy dogs in all breeds. According to Walter Padgett PHD author of The Control of Canine Genetic Diseases all dogs no matter the breed all carry 4 to 5 genetic defects. No one has a crystal ball and can tell your for positive what a dog will look like or weigh when it's grown or exactly what color it will be. Mother nature does the selection and so far she is keeping how she does that her little secret. So before you get ready to rip your breeder apart on the message board or try to cause a big stir, ask yourself a couple of questions, 1) why did I buy this pup from them? 2) Am I willing to work with the breeder to solve the problem? 3) Was this an impulse purchase? 4) Is my breeder God? I can give you the answer to that one....NO the breeder is not God. Sometimes bad things happen to good people and to good dogs. No one can see the future and once the pup or dog leaves the breeders hands we have no control over what you do with your dog as far as nutrition, exercise, and training. We can suggest to people and tell people the right things to do but sometimes they don't follow the advice and then want to blame someone else for the problem with the dog. Not in all cases are the owners looking to blame the breeder. But what is the first thing someone does when they have a problem? They get on these boards and start telling what a horrible person the breeder is for giving them such a sad excuse for a dog and it's unhealthy and it's always sick. How many times have these people called the breeder first? Very few. All of the breeders have been hit on with these boards. Then it turns to another fight. Let's help people and not fight, it doesn't matter who they bought the dog from or what's wrong with it. Help them. Don't worry about what everyone else is doing, just give those that need help and hand. I truly hope everyone has a good day and a good week end and that they have success in all they do. Remember a Boerboel is still a Boerboel no matter who bred it or owns it. Melinda Proffer PS Sorry this is so long. I probably won't post again in the future so to all have a blessed life and enjoy your boerboels they are the best.
