Great post Melinda. I understand what you mean and this is the primary concern of most breeders. Maybe I'm too optimistic but I would hope that in the beginning it would be a bumpy road and eventually the consumer would control the database moreso than the breeder, therefore it would be obvious which breeders are participating and which ones are not. In essence, I think it just has alot to do with the way the organization executes the program. Overall I doubt that you will ever outproduce or monetarily compete with the BYB regardless of the system that is in place with the org.

So as one person had mentioned to me that 'this would put the honest and reputable breeder at a disadvantage', I thought about it and I would have to say that this type of honesty with the public is what makes the breeder 'honest and reputable' and therefore the reputable and honest person is always at a disadvantage.
