Hellmuth Wachtel, a zoologist and consultant to the Hamburg zoo told me about the comparative study between GSD and CzWD in a communication he had received from the breed club. (He believes it, at least for the early CzWD.) If you search on Hellmuth's name you will find some of his work on the web, translated from German, and a little heavy going at times, but worth reading.
