Ed, Suzanne has not contradicted herself at all. It is you that seem unable to understand the information.
Demodetic Mange Mites are present in all dogs.
Dogs with healthy, strong immune systems are not affected and do not exhibit signs of mange.

A dog's immune system can vary according to the stress it encounters. An immune system that can ordinarily cope with one stress factor might not be able to cope with a couple of things all at once. This is how grown dogs can suddenly show signs of mange if they a stressed severely by multiple attacks on their system.
Puppies ARE NOT BORN WITH MATURE IMMUNE SYSTEMS !!!

We all know that puppies are vunerable to infections and diseases that wouldn't bother an adult dog. A puppy's immune system grows, developes, and gets stronger as the puppy matures. This is why we do not allow puppies to be exposed to ANY contageous disease or condition. If a litter of puppies all develop mange it is obvious that the litter was born with a defective, or weak, immune system and these pups will likely pass the problem on if they are allowed to breed. That is why we do not breed dogs that were born with mange. But you fail to understand-or refuse to acknowledge-that an otherwise healthy puppy with a puppy immune system can certainly catch mange from an actively infected dog. This puppy can easily be treated and the mange will go away. I believe the pup will have a normal immune system when grown and pass this same normal immune system on to its' pups. You know, it wasn't too long ago that people believed that if a bitch was bred to a dog of a different breed all her pups from then on would be crossbed and tained by that first breeding. Your belief about Demodex is along the same lines.
