I hope that what you plan comes to fruition. I do see one flaw. Health Insurance policies for pets cannot be purchased for more than a year. Rather, you cannot buy two years of coverage at a time. Each year is a new policy.

I searched through a couple of companies before deciding on the one I use. All underwriters have the same guidelines on that.

Also, if you are going that far - you may (should) require a Routine Care coverage. This is extra than the basic coverage, and reimburses for vaccinations, heartworm preventative, and monies reimbursed toward an annual invasive procedure (mine covers $65 towards spay/neuter, teeth cleaning, or more extemsive bloodwork or even EKG as the dog ages). This is more incentive for them to neuter the animal and for good preventative measures, and to find something and treat it in the early stages.
