Just got off the phone with a Vet from Milwaukee who put another factor in the equation: Among Vets as a general rule, if a pup presents with a few small areas of hair loss which prove to be demodex and subsequently heal on their own, they do not always tell the person to deffinently not breed the dog, as it would be a very unpopular sale. Even though they realize that should this dog breed with another with a week immune system, chances keep going up all the time that demodex with manifest. Another and much more common slant is the pup presents with the spots, the owner is concerned, the vet treats the demodex. Now who will ever know if the pup was strong enough to defeat it or not. So now it becomes clear how very hard it is to get rid of this problem. Breeders just have to be informed, educated, and committed and above all, take responsibility. I am just stating the facts, Please don't hate the messenger.
