Not true Ed, we never had one Boerboel come down with Démodex until we purchased an adult bitch from South Africa and her litter came down with Démodex, and we have been breeding for seven years now. Taking a short cut and buying an adult bitch was Johns only mistake. She is completely out of our kennel along with her sister.
We kept one of the puppies from the bad litter and we believe his association with the other pups, before he showed any demodex, was the cause of their demodex. The pups that did not come in contact with this pup or another infected pup did not get demodex. There is still a lot more research to be done. If any of our current bitches produce any pups with demodex they will not be bred again and you will have been right. To send a pup out that does not meet the buyers expectations can be very frustating for the buyer and seller and does nothing for the seller’s reputation.
Have a nice Day.
