Was a skin scraping done to determine the type of mange mite?

What you descibe sounds more like sarcopic mange to me. It is transferrable from dog to dog and from dog to human. Either that or you two have lots of weakened immune systems in your dogs.

All the info Ed is referring to states that most dogs normally have demodectic mites on them...it's only dogs with weak immune systems that exhibit symptoms of demodectic mange.
