Angela,

Thanks for being a responsible owner that cares about your dog and about not having others go through what you have been through with Nala. I hate to sound like such a heavy, but JB has in the past said that he is not responsible for what people do with his dogs once he has sold them. And he has always refused to take any responsibility for the pup he sold my friend that died of parvo a few days later and then for the crippled pup he replaced it with.

This new "Mr. Nice Guy and Everybody's Buddy" image he has been displaying the last year or so doesn't make any brownie points with me. It simply means he has slowed down on the "bash other breeders" and "I know everything" attitude that he used on the boards in the past. Guess the old approach must have back-fired at some point in time. This new approach must be working better for him as a marketing tool.

It was my concern that you had been told to go ahead and breed Nala. And it is my concern that her mother and father will be used for breeding in the future. If JB is certain that the weakness came from the bitch, Ruby, that he imported...I hope that she will never be bred again. And I hope the people who have her now are aware of her problem.

You know what a terrible ordeal treating demodex is...and there are some cases that cannot be helped even today with all the advances in veterinary medicine.

I do not believe in experimenting with dogs that have produced litters like Nala's. And if John had other dogs come down with demodex while around Too Bad/Ammo, then I would say he does have lots of problems with weakened immune systems. From all the info I have studied, the mite can travel from dog to dog but dogs with normal immune systems and in normal health do not succomb to the mange. This reasoning makes sense when the vet told you to isolate Nala from the weakened Rottie.

Best of luck with Nala. I hope she will live long and healthy as a beloved member of your family.

Terry Magee
