May I comment? My dogs have been bred that close from the beginning.and still are. Sam was bred from half mates. The first mating I made, Rangerx C V Suzie, was line bred, as Suzie"s dam was full mate to Ranger; Bennett's Buck x Bennetts Black Gal. All of Richards dogs were close bred after the fist generation, so my dogs were line bred from 1960s to now. England's Little Lep, which many dogs carry, was from full mates. My good friend Vernon Leggett has crossed full mates with much success.
Something I really like about real close breeding other than fixed traits, is the fact I know what to expect better and better each generation. This makes training so much easier. Not that this strain is any better, but I know very much what I will get. Can also recognize them buy their many unique traits. This probably is true in any breed, and likley why breeders of proven strains stick with what they have. Rex
