Mike, I mainly hunted coon, but also bear hunted, but for many years supplied lots of bear hunters.I would guess about all bear bred Leopards are heavy line bred top and bottom on my dogs. In addition to Sam, I owned CV Dolly, she's burried here. owned her sister. and two of Tig's mates. Many bear dogs also go back to DC Goldie and CV Jezebel II which I raised from DC Cleo, who was grandaughter of Ranger x Doe Valley Queen.Queen was a top bear dog and repoduced many good bear dogs. Fact is. tis strain was more bear bred than coon bred way back in 60s. I have only raised a couple litters in last ten years but many of those are top bear dogs and still reproducing, better each generation. I only have two Leps now, both granpups of Sam. most of their littermates are bear dogs. However, the same breeding principles apply to hunting any game. remember, knowing the pedigree helps, but knowing the dogs, for many generations, helps more. I grew up hunting with Plott breeders, Allisons, bear hunters, and they line bred close, also.Big advantages in line breeding, if you plan to breed long term. Rex
