GigMasters bills itself as 'The Online Booking Service for Live Entertainment' and services itself to anyone looking for live entertainers. Visitors may search by event (such as weddings, banquets, etc) or service required (live band, caterers, photographer, etc). The site is really quite impressive, and with over 18,000 musicians currently on their roster GigMasters certainly has the something for everyone. For musicians, GigMasters offers an online press kit and the unique ability to bid on gigs as they come up. Very much worth taking a look at for musicians seeking work. Added 07/05/2001.

Goodnight Kiss Music

GKM specializes in placing songs within the film, television, and recording industry and they have a very impressive list of credits. Goodknight Kiss is open to considering material from unknown songwriters for their projects, but they do have a strict list of requirements for submissions. Interested songwriters should check their daily updates to see what they are currently working on, and then contact them directly before submitting any material. A subscription based newsletter is also available which outlines their current projects. Check out their excellent Song Critique Checklist. Updated 06/27/2002.

IndieBiz.com
IndieBiz.com, from Kathode Ray Music has been around for a long, long time providing great services to musicians. Today, IndieBiz specializes in street and Internet promotion help for independent musicians as well as artist development. Choose a scenario from their web site and you'll see how they can help. Need a manager? booking agent? How about press? Their client list includes a couple bands you may have heard of - Marcy Playground, oh, and how about this one...Bush. IndieBiz.com started small as Kathode Ray Music a number of years ago. Now, they are a real player in the industry, named 'Best Behind The Scenes Stringpuller' by The Nashville Scene. Updated 03/14/2002.

Indiego Music Center
Indiego offers a number of promotional services for independent musicians, including radio and retail. Radio promotion packages are put together for maximum exposure for the artist, right down to focusing on trade magazines and of course tracking radio airplay. Retail promotion packages balance both mom and pop type record stores with major store chains. Currently Indiego has 600 store to which they actively promote projects, and over 11,000 others which can be contacted to meet a specific artists promotional needs. Other services offered include distribution, publicity packages, Internet marketing, booking, and merchandising. Updated 04/18/2002.

J-Bird Records
J-Bird Records is a combination talent agency, record company, web site provider and store all in one. They are a high profile record label featuring such artists as Billy Squire, Rockapella, The Guess Who and 350 others (including indie artists). The online label works in an unusual, but interesting way. You provide a signed contract, your CD master, and $500 to J-Bird. They then design and manufacture your CDs for you (their designers work with you). You send a final $500 once you approve the final CD proofs ($1000 total) and you get 250 CDs in return and J-Bird releases your CD into the marketplace. It sounds like a lot of money, but essentially you are paying J-Bird to do all your manufacturing, design, and promotion for you. Every six months you get a royalties check on sales, and you can purchase more of your own CDs for resale (for as low as $2.25 ea) whenever you like. The whole set up is quite a bit different than anyone else we've encountered online, but J-Bird does have big names behind it and for those who have not yet manufactured their CD, it's actually an appealing option. Updated 05/03/2001.
