Mr Curiosity, to be honest with you, I think you could build 5 cars exactly by the rule books and you would have 5 different opinions or interpretations of the rules... then you have either 5 legal or 5 illegal cars, depending on the ruling... not saying that the rules aren't any good, I just think you would have a 2,000 page manual if you covered specifics for every car type in every class.
I think the rules should be "amended" when you exploit a gray area that can only benefit one model or car type. In other words, the rules are made to be generic or across the board... the cars aren't.
I've seen some things done to cars that give a hell of an advantage, and due to interpretation of the rules, is deemed legal... I honestly don't think that's what Marvin intended when they put rules in place. That being said, you're not gonna change the opinion of the interpreter so you clarify that rule, so either nobody can use it or everybody can...
I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that rules were set to keep the playing field pretty even (that and to give me a guideline as to what I done wrong!!!!haha)
