Subject: Remember when every Buffy novel was set during Seasoj 3?

Mainly becuz that was the height of the shows popularity, plus it made the most sense for practical reasons: s3 had more revolving characters than any other season, plus the main season-arc of the Mayor and evil Faith didn't gear up until half way thru it, whereas season 1 was short and in season 2 Angel was evil and Buffy was heartbroken/whining over it the whole time.

But the point of this post is this: I wish someone--assuming Buffy novels are still being written, I haven't checked in ages--would write a series a novels set between seasons 1 & 4 that don't have original plots but rather a retelling of the famous arcs on the show (Buffy arrives in Sunnydale, kills the Master, Angel turns evil, Buffy's mom finds out she's a slayer, evil faith, graduation day, Buffy goes to college, etcetera etcetera) only with the character of Dawn included and having B-plots of her own like everyone else. I mean, the Monks supposed created artificial memories and history for her whole life, put in the minds of everyone, even Angel, Inc. So how cool would it be to see what she did during all that history in Sunnydale? How could Buffy have managed to feel all "alone in the world/different" that was the metaphor of slayer-hood if she had a sister all her life?

I wish I had the talent myself, and I'd write a book of short stories of all those storylines with Dawn included, maybe even a few from her perspective. The biggest challenge here? I'd make Dawn not so fucking whiney and helpless and useless all the time!

...I forget its title, in which the author rewrote the kristey Swanson Buffy film to match the series, it was great.

There are fanfic writers that have included Dawn in Buffy's life from the beginning. Really, in fanfic you can find any storyline you could ever want, since people have been writing it for 15 years.

The problem in finding fan fic is that forums have closed in favor of LJ and then authors are also changing their names so it is difficult to find some,I also found that some sites are so laden with "virus" that I just avoid them.

Do you have some (safe) sites as a suggestion? Thanks! I don't mind reading without pictures. ha!
Be well

Fanfiction.net has an endless supply of fics.

For Spuffy as the main characters: The Spuffy Realm, Bloodshedverse, and Elysian Fields. Nocturnal Light for older fics.

Thank you, kim. This was one of the sites that was loaded with problems; I gather they have cleaned up their act.

And...you are so right. People are still writing in this fandom. Amazing! Some of you may like crossovers to Supernatural and even True Blood, etc.

I hope you are enjoying success with your line of romance novel e books! (I did remember that right?)
Be well!

Yes, you did. I'm doing alright.

I never had a problem with FF.net, but I've always run preventive programs, and I never click on ads.

Yes, you can find crossovers. And there are always new fans thanks to the discs, reruns, etc., so they get inspired to write. A lot of the best writers have moved on to original work and being published, but there are a few good new people.

...I think he/she was called Shadow Cat, WHO had his/her own site and occassionally pósted here with all kinds of great analyses/interpretations of "Buffy". Especially the episode "Restless" he/she had some really interesting thoughts. Anyone remember him/her or what site that was??

Shadowcat was always a passionate voice, but finally tended toward Spuffy oriented sites, IMO. I think that private passwords/code words and such for protection, actually caused isolation and "word" kinds of posts. I have not seen much, but as a commenter on other LJ boards that aren't fully locked.

I do think fandom meltdowns have turned off a lot of the "thinking" fans. Voy's Blue Board, included.

And, I don't care, as I ship B/A, but for "mythical reasons" re male and female principles as union of opposites in "awakening." The (emotional) realism of Buffy ultimately has become the "hack" of "hero comics" in what are called "edgy" comic books. (Read Cthulu mythos).

The journey of growing up has used "death" as "key" to human failure/fraility in suicide-relief/hero as hero in the "will" to die, and fear/rage of "the naked Power" of "the authority" from father to fatherland. Your basic Freud and Kafka nighmare of muted voice, first in defiance and then in distance; and ultimately, the incomprehensible, self imposed prison, with 'others' enjoying the favor of Paradise. Or the steaming heap of "more of the same" and writer imposed "brain dead."

I think a lot of people just went to LJ and beyond, but I think Shadowcat was on Buffyforums.net and I think other BFN e.g. Kita's LJ for awhile. Who likes Connor and daddy-slash.

There is Slayalive that still does reviews, links to them on Whedonesque, but I find them biased--again the Spuffy v B/A ers and "only positive," even slobbering praise at everything produced.

I find the Spuffy fans strident "saying so, makes it so" while Cherry Picking through what has actually turned out to be nothing more than a Freudian wet dream, for both ships. Feminism is apparent by its absence, as emotions are the celebration of the triumph of the trivial. IMO.

Be well!
