Subject: Does anyone recall an online poster...
In reply to: SV 's message, "Remember when every Buffy novel was set during Seasoj 3?" on 21:28:58 09/23/12 Sun

...I think he/she was called Shadow Cat, WHO had his/her own site and occassionally pósted here with all kinds of great analyses/interpretations of "Buffy". Especially the episode "Restless" he/she had some really interesting thoughts. Anyone remember him/her or what site that was??

Shadowcat was always a passionate voice, but finally tended toward Spuffy oriented sites, IMO. I think that private passwords/code words and such for protection, actually caused isolation and "word" kinds of posts. I have not seen much, but as a commenter on other LJ boards that aren't fully locked.

I do think fandom meltdowns have turned off a lot of the "thinking" fans. Voy's Blue Board, included.

And, I don't care, as I ship B/A, but for "mythical reasons" re male and female principles as union of opposites in "awakening." The (emotional) realism of Buffy ultimately has become the "hack" of "hero comics" in what are called "edgy" comic books. (Read Cthulu mythos).

The journey of growing up has used "death" as "key" to human failure/fraility in suicide-relief/hero as hero in the "will" to die, and fear/rage of "the naked Power" of "the authority" from father to fatherland. Your basic Freud and Kafka nighmare of muted voice, first in defiance and then in distance; and ultimately, the incomprehensible, self imposed prison, with 'others' enjoying the favor of Paradise. Or the steaming heap of "more of the same" and writer imposed "brain dead."

I think a lot of people just went to LJ and beyond, but I think Shadowcat was on Buffyforums.net and I think other BFN e.g. Kita's LJ for awhile. Who likes Connor and daddy-slash.

There is Slayalive that still does reviews, links to them on Whedonesque, but I find them biased--again the Spuffy v B/A ers and "only positive," even slobbering praise at everything produced.

I find the Spuffy fans strident "saying so, makes it so" while Cherry Picking through what has actually turned out to be nothing more than a Freudian wet dream, for both ships. Feminism is apparent by its absence, as emotions are the celebration of the triumph of the trivial. IMO.

Be well!
