Subject: Smelting and Mining increases
In reply to: mhoram 's message, "Re: mining" on 17:30:03 08/14/03 Thu

Well at last check Mining is movement based, meaning you have to keep moving in order to get skill increases. So just by standing at the forge you will only get the one piont. You could of course move from smith shop to smith shop. In addition, most of the "good" ores are found in caves these days. And the Mining is even better in Fel, as the yeild is double, just watch out for ore jackers. A good beetle may help you out in those situations. Also, I have never gotten a skill gain after using either a Gargoyle pickaxe or a prospectors tool. Also if you have Mining gloves they can help, to get the gain I would use them to mine ore, then smelt with out them. In any case even after you GM Mining you should still smelt Verite and Valorite one or two ores at a time.
RIP
