If CTV (the main commercial network) buys the local rights to a US production, it's 'simulcast', or shown at EXACTLY the same time as it is on the US network, say, NBC. So you have the choice of watching the show on either a Canadian or US network in Canada (although if you watch it on the US network on Canadian cable TV, the ads are Canadian)
