Subject: Goodbye to You

Goodbye to You (kinda sad)

Timeline: A couple of days before Robin and Jason.

Luke's Bar

Luke's is jumping tonight; ever one wanting to see the band that Luke had been bagging about all week. They were a modern blue's band, that according to Luke were going to be a huge hit; he had even purchased a piano for the performance. In the crowd Edward, Lila, Alan, Monica, and AJ Quartermaine were sitting together and bickering about something or other. Lucky, Liz, Emily, and Nikolas were seated in front of them causally chatting and occasionally laughing at the older Quartermaines antics. Next to them are Jax, Chloe, and Alexis conferring about the marriage scam while waiting for Ned to show up after some crisis at ELQ had called him away. A few tables over were Mac, Felicia, Kevin, and Eve discussing the various gossip spreading around Port Charles, every once in a while Mac's eyes would settle on the bar where Robin sat with Sonny, then he would glare over to the table were Jason sat with Carly and Michael. His niece didn't deserve this kind of treatment and he promised himself he would talk with her in the mourning about changing it. Mike and Tammy were on their first official date and were conversing with Sonny and Robin.

Sonny: (leans down and whispers in to Robin's ear) Why don't you go over there, grab Jason and find a table for yourselves?

Robin: (looks over to Jason then back into Sonny's compassionate eyes, sadly) Why should I, he seems to be having more fun with them, then he does lately with me. (sarcastically) Wouldn't want to disturb his perfect little family, would I?

Sonny: (puts his arm around her and pulls her into a hug) Don't worry, it will be okay, you two will work it out.

Robin: (pulls out of the hug) No Sonny, it's not going to be okay. He spends more time over at Carly's place then with me at the penthouse, I know he feels responsible for Michael and all but Carly uses that to her advantage. All she has to do is call and say something is wrong with Michael and he goes running. If she actually tried to be a parent it wouldn't be so bad, but no she uses her son as a pawn for Jason's affection. (her eye's fill with tears, but none escape) I'm telling you Sonny, it's sick.

Sonny: (sighs, knows she was right and can't really think of anything to say to cheer her up, hesitantly he asks) What are you going to, sweetheart?

Robin: (looks away, towards Jason) What can I do? I'll let him go, (turns back to Sonny) but he's not really anymore, is he?

Sonny: (before Sonny can answer Luke comes storming out of the back muttering and cursing to him self. Both Robin and Sonny look up at his tone and language in shock) Hey man, what's going on?

Luke: (with fire in his eyes) What's going on is that this damn band has cancelled on me saying Luke's was too small of a venue for them. They could have told me that sooner then tonight don't you think? (shakes his head) Man, what am I going to do?

Robin: (knowing what's like to have a band cancel) It'll be okay, maybe you can get Ned or Dara to sing in their place, it worked for L&B that one time.

Luke: (searches the bar quickly) Neither one of them is here tonight (his eyes light up as remember something, looking at Robin) Wait, hold on I got it.

Robin: (getting a little nervous as Luke stares at her with a calculating gleam in his eye) What?

Luke: (smiling widely) I bought a piano especially for tonight and I distinctly remember getting a tape of you playing a piano and singing from your father one year for Christmas. Will you go up for a little while? Please, Robin I'm begging you.

Robin: (eyes widen in astonishment and alarm at his suggestion) No, there is no way I'm going to get up there in front of all these people and sing. (Luke looks at her pleadingly, her resolve weakens slightly) No, Luke I'm not even that good.

Sonny: (in disbelief) Not that good, sweetheart I've seen you play you're incredible and your singing is breathtaking, come on you know it'll be fun.

Luke: (still smiling) See Sonny agrees with me, you'll do fine.

Robin: (uncertainly) I don't know (seeing both of their persuasive faces directed at her) Fine, I'll do it but I'm only doing one song then you're on your own.

Luke: (reaches over the bar and hugs her tightly) Thank you, I owe you. I'll announce you in five minutes; you got a song?

Robin: (glance over to a laughing Jason and Carly) Yeah, I got a song.

Sonny: (puts his arm back around her as Luke walks over to the stage) Don't worry Sweetheart you'll do fine, remember all the times you use to sing for Stone (she nods her head slightly at the happy memory, still looking over at Jason's table. Sonny looks over at Jason and instantly his temper flares at the situation, then he turns back to Robin) And for the record he doesn't deserve you Sweetheart. (She turns back to Sonny and smiles unhappily. he sees her expression, softly) I don't think he ever did.

Luke: (before Robin can respond Luke jumps up onto the stage and walks over to the mike.) Well people there are some changes to tonight's plans. (the crowd starts mumbling it's objections) Now calm down, the band that was scheduled to play flaked, now I got someone to step in but she said she'd only do one song; so after that it'll be the jukebox unless we can beg her to do more (sees Robin glaring at him, clears his throat) or not. Now ladies and gentlemen help me welcome my very dear friend Ms. Robin Scorpio. (starts capping)

The crowd caps loudly as Robin walks up to the stage, some knowing how good she is and others capping just because they like Robin; she steps onto the stage and Luke immediately hugs her, then steps down and walks over to the bar. She goes over to the piano and adjusts the mike while scanning the crowd.

Robin: (hesitantly) I haven't done this in awhile so bear with me.

Jax: (Yells from his seat) You'll do great.

Robin smiles toward Jax and nods her head; she then turns towards Jason's table. He is avidly watching her with curious look on his face; Carly has a scowl etched on her face next to him; she then purposely puts her hand on his forearm silently staking her invalid claim on him. Robin turns back to Jason and locks eyes with him while she begins to play.

(softy) "Of all the things I've believed in
I just want to get it over with
Tears form behind my eyes
But I do not cry
Counting the days that pass me by"

"I've been searching deep down in my soul
Words that I'm hearing
Are starting to get old
It feels like I'm starting all over again
The last three years were just pretend
And I said,"

(agonizingly) "Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing I tried to hold on to"

"I still get lost in your eyes
And it seems that I cant live a day without you
Closing my eyes and you chase my thoughts away
To a place where
I am blinded by the light
But it’s not right"

"Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing I tried to hold on to"

"And it hurts to want everything and nothing at the same time
I want what's yours
And I want what's mine
(pauses) I want you
(strongly) But I'm not giving in this time"

(sadly) "Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing I tried to hold on to
The one thing I tried to hold on to"

Robin: (the crowd is silenced by her heartbreaking ballad, for a good minute nobody does anything and then finally everyone starts capping and cheering, she whispers into the mike) Thank you (her eyes are still locked onto Jason's sad blue eyes, as she slowly stands up, and turns to smiles sadly to the crowd before walking off the stage and back over to Sonny. She leans up to whisper in his ear) Can you take me home?

Sonny: (glaring at Jason, not letting the hurt and confused expression on his face sway him) Sure thing Sweetheart, let's go.

Jason: (watches sadly as Robin and Sonny leave the bar amid the cheers for an encore. He knows she was singing that song just for him, to him, and he realized in that moment he'd lost Robin. She had finally reached her breaking point and was going to put a stop to everything. He thinks back to earlier this evening and how Carly basically ignored Michael the whole night while making doe eyes at him. He finally understands what Robin had been telling him all along, Carly was using him and he was letting her do it, while it was breaking up him and Robin. With that realization the only thing he can say is) What the hell did I do?

The End
***

Is this the end or do you want more.

The song was written and sung by Michelle Branch, it's a great studio song, but if you can get your hands on the acoustic version, it's 10 times better.
