Subject: Things I Can Not Change Chap:1

Lord, grant me the ability to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Robin Scorpio ran to the bridge, her heart pounding and her breath coming in short spurts. Reaching the middle of the bridge her knees finally gave out and she collapsed to the ground. She leaned heavily against the railing and tried to block the memories of the last time she'd sat here. Tried not to remember the warmth that flooded her as Jason held her against his side. The wind was chilly and crickets chirped in the grass but all else was still around her. Soon the sobs began, wracking her body in heavy convulsions that only served to make the wound in her side burn even more. She could feel the blood leaving her, see it pooling on the ground. Her mind reeled with questions, over and over she asked herself: Why she hadn't seen this coming? All the signs were there. It couldn't end like this, it just couldn't. Pulling her cell phone out she dialed 911 again. No service it read once more. "Damn it!" She used a little of her remaining strength to hurl it across the way from her. "Damn it. I can't believe this, the damned thing worked with no problem when it rang a few hours ago. If only it hadn't worked then, I wouldn't have this problem now." Bracing her legs beneath her, she tried to stand once more, but soon she saw the ground rushing up to meet her as she fell again. Strong hands grasped her arms and kept her standing. She didn't have the strength to lift her head and thank her savior, she just sighed a gentle, "Thank you" and slipped into the void of unconciousness.

Jason Morgan picked up the wounded woman and looked down at her closed eyes. What the hell happened? Who did this to her? As he stood holding her, he remembered standing on this very bridge and telling Elizabeth Webber that he was no longer in love with Robin. What a joke. Whether he felt that way about that statement or why he made it was irrelevant, he just knew it wasn't true. He loved her, he'd always loved her and he always would love her. It was just how he survived. Like breathing and eating. He shook himself from his stupor and realized how cold her skin had become. She needed medical attention and fast. "Reynaldo!" He barked to the man standing nearby. "Go tell Bobbie to meet me at Mike's apartment. And tell her to hurry, Robin's in serious trouble." With that said, Jason carried Robin to his car and placed her in the backseat. As he walked to the driver's side he saw that his friend had wasted no time in going for help. Now all Jason had to do was keep Robin alive long enough to reach Mike. She'd be safe there, they both would be. There was little if any chance of Sonny stopping by and if Courtney came by, the only person she'd really tell would be AJ and it's not like he'd go running to tell everyone they were back. Jason drove as fast as possible without attracting attention to himself and soon he was in the parking lot of the Recovery Room. As soon as he was parked he ran to the back to get Robin. He checked her pulse and found, though it was slow, it was steady. He began pulling her from the backseat and it was then that he noticed the rings on her finger. Yellow gold wrapped around at least a karat diamond and a simple gold band nestled in front. "Oh God, she's married." Now he had this to deal with too? First the woman he loves is hurt, well putting things in perspective it should be, first he went insane and pushed the woman he loved out of his life, then the woman he loves is hurt and now he has to deal with the fall out of his stupidity which just happened to be the love of his life, the keeper of his heart, was married to someone else. Someone with expensively bad taste in jewelry, or at least jewelry that would fit Robin. He had to stop thinking about this or he'd go insane before he reached the top of the stairs. Finally they were at Mike's apartment. Banging on the door as best he could without dropping his precious bundle, he hoped to God that Mike was here.
