Subject: Things I Can Not Change Chap:2

A/N Please forgive any medical mistakes I make in my diagnosis of Robin's wound. I am writing this on kind of a whim and research is not my forte.

Jason pounded frantically on Mike's door as he tried to maintain his grip on Robin. Finally, after what seemed like hours Mike opened the door. "Jason? Robin? What the hell happened?" "No time Mike." Jason said as he pushed his way inside. "She needs help Mike. She's hurt." Jason turned pleading eyes to his friend. Mike placed a hand on Jason's shoulder. "It's all right man. She'll be fine. Tell me what happened." Jason was about to reply when they heard knocking on the door. "More people? Who is it this time? Luke carrying Helena? Or better still, Helena carrying Luke." He flashed a grin over his shoulder at Jason, but it was a wasted effort as Jason had eyes only for Robin. Mike opened the door to the next visitors. It was Bobbie with Francis right behind her. Again Mike was pushed aside and Bobbie made her way over to the couch where Jason had laid Robin. "Jason, I don't want to move her too much, but I think she should be in a bed." "Take her to my room Jason." Mike piped in earning him a grateful look from both Bobbie and Jason. Jason picked Robin up once more and carried her gently into Mike's room and laid her on the bed. "All right, we have to check the wound and see how bad it is and if we can determine the cause of it. Jason, you need to go get washed up, get the blood off your hands. If Robin wakes up and see that she'll panic and it won't do anybody any good." Jason turned to do as she asked as Bobbie began removing Robin's blouse. Jason hurried in the bathroom, washing his hands thoroughly with soap and then with bleach. He nearly vomited at the sight of how much had gotten on to him. Not because of the HIV, but because of how much blood meant Robin had lost. He got back into the room in time to see Bobbie trying to lift a still unconscious Robin into a sitting position to remove the shirt completely. He walked over quickly and lifted Robin easily in his arms, holding her steady and then laying her back down. His eyes filled with tears as he caught sight of the wound in her side, a jagged tear in her flawless skin surrounded by bruising and blood that still seeped from the opening. "Believe it or not Jason, this is only a flesh wound. it's superficial, but it will scar and she has lost a lot of blood." "Can you treat her here? I don't want her in a hospital, someone did this to her and I don't want them to get another chance." "Yes, I can treat her here, but I can't do it alone. I'll need Alan's help." "No." "Jason," She began but he cut her off with a sharp gesture. "No. No Quartermaines, no Mac, no Sonny nobody but us." He couldn't allow anyone to hurt her again. "Jason, you don't understand. There are things I need to get in order to treat her for the blood loss and I don't have the authority to get them for out of hospital use. But the Chief of staff does." Bobbie placed a hand on Jason's arm and he nodded his head in acquiescence. " All right. If it's the only way." "Good. I'll call him. You stay with her and try to staunch that blood." Jason moved to Robin's side and placed one of the cloths Bobbie had there against the wound. His heart stopped when he saw Robin's body rise involuntarily and she inhaled sharply from pain. He saw her eyes flicker open slowly. She turned her head and looked at him. "I know this is cliche, but where am I?" She asked in a scratchy voice. "You're at Mike's. I found you on the bridge and brought you here. Bobbie's calling Alan for help." He couldn't take his eyes off of her. Her sweet, oval face with its high cheekbones and delicate chin. Her warm brown eyes, that while obviously wary of his presence still made his pulse pound. She was so beautiful and it galled him to think that anyone would want to hurt her. "Robin, can you tell me what happened?" "No." She shook her head slightly and drew her lips into a thin line. This was a look Jason knew only too well. This was Robin being stubborn. She didn't trust him, that much was certain. He gestured towards Robin's wedding ring and asked, "Well, can you tell me where I can find your husband? I'm sure he'll want to know where you are and that you're going to be all right." As soon as Jason mentioned the word husband, Robin's eyes got wide with fear and she began shaking her head back and forth. "No, no Jason you can't tell him. You can't! You don't know what he'll do." Robin had grabbed Jason's arm and was now proceeding to almost crush the bones there. "Robin, it's ok. He won't hurt you, I won't let him. I promise." He tried to reassure her, stroking her hair but she swatted his hand away and spat back, "Your promises mean nothing. Not unless you're Carly, Sonny or Michael. Never if you're me. No one keeps the promises they make to me." Anger flashed fiercely in her eyes and her words were almost hissed. "Robin," Jason began but was cut off when Robin gave a yelp of pain and seized on to his hand. "Bobbie! Get in here now." Bobbie came running into the room and saw a sweating Robin thrashing about on the bed, moaning in pain. "Damn, I think she's developing a fever, possibly and infection." "Already? How could it develop this soon?" "She's undernourished, has lost a lot of blood and appears to be stressed, that combined with the HIV, and exposing the wound to cold have caused bacteria to multiply faster than normal. Thus creating fever and infection." "Can you stop it?" "Not until Alan gets here with the supplies, she's lost too much blood for her body to fight on its own. But for now, all we can do is keep her cool and keep the wound clean. Alan should be here soon." And with that said, Bobbie left Jason with the hardest job he'd ever had. Waiting to make sure Robin would survive. Waiting for Robin in any other circumstances was fine, but this was nerve wracking and he found himself pacing. Soon, he was not only pacing but silently praying as well. 'God, please don't take her. Whoever did this can not be allowed to succeed. The world needs her, her family needs her, her patients need her too much. And yes, I need her. Even if I don't count in your book anymore I still need her. She's my angel sent from you and I can't lose her again. Please God, let Alan get here soon and please let her be all right. Even if she never forgives me, I'll be ok knowing she knows I still love her and knowing that she's alive. That's all I need. So please, please don't take her. Amen.'
