Chapter 3

Robin stares down at Jason looking at the second scar he has on his body. Jason looks down at himself to see what she is staring at and realizes she is staring at the scar he got after he was shot the second time. Jason lets out a loud sigh and drops his head because what he has to explain is just going to upset her. He takes a deep breath and lets it out then lifts his head to look at her.

J.(Not wanting to explain) Robin why don�t I explain it tomorrow. It�s late and I know you�re tired besides you need your rest.

R. No, because that new scar I see on your body looks no different then the other scar you have. I know how you got that first scar because I was with you when it happened.
.
J.(knowing what he is about to say is going to upset her.) I�ll tell you but are you sure you don�t want to wait and hear about it till tomorrow? After you had a good night sleep?

Robin sits down next to him on the couch and looks into his eyes.

R. You think knowing you have a second scar on yourself and wondering how you got it will give me a good night sleep?

J. Ok if you insist on knowing about it I will tell you. One night I filled in for Sonny at a meeting with Moreno on the docks. I arrived in the limo got out and stood there for a moment. They arrived and with out even getting out of the car they sprayed the place with bullets. (Robin sat there and listen as Jason explained what had happen) I took cover and came out of it a live but the guards were dead.

Jason looks up at her with almost a scared look on his face. Robin looks at him thinking if that was all. Jason wasn�t going to explain more until she asked the question.

R. Did you go to the hospital?

J. (in a soft low voice) No

R. (shifts in her seat) If you didn�t get treated then how did you survive it the second time?

J.(turns his head and looks at her) I don�t know.

R.(almost glad she wasn�t there to witness it a second time but appalled he still wont take care of himself like he should) What do you mean I don�t know?

J.(getting defensive) You know Robin now you�re starting to sound nosey. Now why should you care. You weren�t there. You�re the one who left! You should be glad you weren�t there to witness what happened because it wasn�t pretty! But hey I�m alive aren�t I. I�m here!

R.(her anger surfaces again) Now wait a damn minute! Did I ask you to come here? No! (gets up off the couch and moves to the middle of the living room and looks at Jason.) You were the one who showed up at my doorstep! As for you getting shot I�m sure it wasn�t pretty because I was there the first time it happened! Plus you should be glad THE FIRST TIME DIDN�T KILL YOU!

Robin turns her back to him and Jason drops his head in shame. He regrets what he just said. Robin says something but he barely hears her. Then she turns around to face him and he looks up.

J.(sighs) Uh look you wanted to know and I told you. What happen after that was...(pauses) afterwards I went to the Quartermaines to see Michael and then I went to Sonny to tell him what went on and before I could say a word Carly comes downstairs wearing Sonny�s shirt. They slept together. It made me angry so I turned around and left.

Robin still angry with him stands there and listens.

J. I went to the boxcar...

Robin cuts him off.

R. With a hole in your side?
J. Yes but I didn�t get to the box car I was in so much pain I collapsed in the snow.

R. God Jason you can be so stupid sometimes.

J.(looks up at her shocked.) Hey anger does that to you.

R. Why were you mad over Sonny and Carly? what, were you falling in love with Carly but Sonny got to her.

J.(in a soft voice looking at the floor.) Yes, at least I thought I was.

Robin looks up at him her eyes widen and stops their conversation from going any further.

R.(somewhat hurt) You know what I heard enough I don�t need to hear anymore. I guess I should thank you for explaining yourself. I guess I shouldn�t of pushed. Good night Jason.

Robin doesn�t give him a chance to say anything else she just goes to her room. He was right it would upset her and it did. but if he came to her wanting her back he would have to lay all of his cards out in front of her. For Robin to see what he has done in the past two years and for her to see how he is different and not the same man she broke up with it. Their break up was another issue between them and he wonders if he�s doing the right thing. Jason sits back on the couch and sighs.

J.(thinking to himself) but I got over it and was still in love with you. I knew this would upset her.

Robin is in her room sitting on her bed crying wishing she could of told him what was really on her mind, but instead she puts up a defense in front of him. yeah he hurt her, but she still loved him and that�s what she wants to tell him. Jason and Robin are thinking a like

J&R: I guess right now isn�t the right time to say I love you.

It�s very late. Jason lays down and tries to go to sleep instead he thinks of Robin. Robin is also lying in bed trying to sleep but instead is thinking of Jason. Moon light fills the living room and shines over Jason as he thinks of Robin. Robin lays there in the dark thinking of Jason.

Jason and Robin are having the same thoughts......

Their first meeting:

Jason is on the bridge, looking out over the water. He hears someone coming and moves to hide. Robin arrives and looks out over the edge, Jason makes a move to leave but accidentally makes a noise. Robin hears, turns around and sees him

It took me by surprise
When I saw you standing there
Close enough to touch
Breathing the same air
You asked me how I'd been
I guess that's when I smiled and said just fine
Oh but baby I was lying

Valentines Day:

Robin grabs Jason around the neck and kisses him, then walks away. Jason is left standing there, looking confused, sad, almost hopeful

(chorus)

I miss you more each day
There's not a night I haven't cried

I'm still in love with you
That's what I really meant to say

Final scene on the bridge in 99

Robin is standing on the bridge leaning against the wall. Jason comes walking on the bridge and stops in his tracks surprised to see Robin standing there thinking she was on her way to Paris. Robin hears a noise and turns her head to find Jason on the bridge with her. They talk and the last thing that Jason said to Robin rings in both their minds clearly.

Jason: And I never wanted you to go before. But I do now. It'll be much easier when you're in Paris. And it'll be a lot easier if I never see your face again.

Jason leaves....

And as you walked away
The echo of my words
Cut just like a knife
Cut so deep it hurt
I held back the tears
Held on to my pride and watched you go
I wonder if you'll ever know

In the present:

Jason lays there on the couch now anger at himself that he pounds the back of the couch with his fist. He slowly sits up and puts his feet on the floor and stands up as cautious as possible. He manages to walk over to the recliner with no problem grabs his jacket and reaches into the inside pocket pulls something out of it and clinches it in his fist and slow and carefully moves over to the window and stare up at the star filled sky with the moon light shining down on him even more. He opens his left hand and looks down at the ring he gave Robin......

Robin not able to sleep goes to check on Jason she leaves her room about to enter the living room but stops in the small hallway and watches Jason stand by the window she notices he�s looking down at his left hand . Then with his right hand he holds a small object between his thumb and index finger and lets it shine in the moon light. Robin notices it�s the ring he gave her. It surprised Robin to see he still has it... Jason puts the ring in his pocket about to turn around to move back over to the couch, before he does Robin sneaks back into her room without being noticed. Jason is back on the couch laying down and finally falls asleep. Robin is sitting on her bed picturing the ring in Jason�s hand. Then goes back out to the hallway leaning on the wall watching Jason sleep on the couch for a moment then goes back to her room goes to sleep.

What I really meant to say
Is I'm really not that strong
No matter how I try
I'm still holding on
And here's the honest truth
I'm still in love with you
That's what I really meant to say
