I learn to cross-stitch from a kit when I was 11 I think. Until university, I always did some sort of project during the summer. I taught one of my sisters, then my mom wanted to learn, and now I think the other two sisters have learned while I was at university. It's a family thing now, hehe.

Yep, it's the one with the Xs over squares in Aida cloth.
Most of what I've done is stuff to be framed, like birth records, "#1 Uncle!" as gifts, pictures of teddy bears or things like that. Christmas ornaments and cards too. That's the most common use, unless you want to stitch something for shirt, a pillow, bookmark or as an insert into something (you can find things like mugs or light switch plates in craft stores that have a stitchable insert).

At Mom's request one summer, I stitched the following to be hung on the wall:

"Mom's Rules
"Rule Number 1: Mom's always right.
"Rule Number 2: Refer to rule Number 1."

Whenever one of us disagrees with her about something, she points to it. lol

Man, I need to find a craft shop close to me and pick this up again. ~Memories....~
