Subject: MBB OOC schedule and thoughts
Based on last season's schedule and some other info, this is what I think we have so far.
Home:
MS Classic at Detrick (2 games vs. usual suspects from from the Ivy, PL, AE, Big South, and/or Big West)
vs. Harvard (Return game from 2005-06)
vs. Delaware (Return game from 2005-06)
vs. St. Bona (Will the Bonnies return a trip to NB as they did with MAAC teams Niagara, Marist, and Iona? LaSalle, also of the A-10, made 2 trips to NB for 2 games in Philly)
Away:
UConn (at HCC)- Last played in 2004-05, are we due for $$$ game with them?
ESPN Bracket Buster - Will the NEC/CCSU get another team?
$$$ game vs. a BCS team - Need to keep paying the bills, right?
Neutral:
vs. Penn State at Hershey, PA (This is part of a NEC-hosted doubleheader on NYE, with QU-Duquense as the first game) Its almost a done deal!
-----
Other possiblities:
-Holy Cross is rumored to be looking for a game and we have scrimmaged them in the past.
-A serise w/ Fairfield fell through last season. Is it possible to start up at Harbor Yard w/ new coaching staff?
- Will CCSU restart a rivalry with Hartford under the new coaching staff there?
- We played Binghamton twice last season. Will Central try to start a serise with another AE team, like Maine with former CCSU assistant Ted Woodword?
- We know Howie doesn't like to play friends, but if Hobbs is playing us some $$$, would we make a trip to DC to play GW? Also, Glen Miller may need to fill up a home date in his new job at Penn or Pikell may need at date at Stony Brook - would we do it?
- Ron Everhart just left Northeastern (MS Tourney opponent in 2005-06) for Duquense. Does he need a game at his new job?
- We haven't played in an exempted tourney in a while. Maybe we can grab something like Coaches v. Cancer?
- Also, the NCAA may approve a 29-game season, an allow an expented tourney each year.

JJ. You are a wealth of Information :) So we should be seeing a lot of home games this season upcoming? I would love to know what the heck is up with recruiting. There has been a lot of disappointment in that area recently.

CCSU/UMass at Mohegan -- J.J., 07:01:42 04/27/06 Thu
Well at least my thread was timely, if not accurate!
In today's Courant it says CCSU will again host UMass at Mohegan Sun Arena on Dec 9. A great game!
I would say the home games I listed are probably pretty accurate, just based on previous games and contracts we've had in the past.
The UMass and Penn State games are great games to "host" at neutral sites. Both were reported in the media.
The rest is just conjecture on my part :) But I do say let's restart a series with Hartford!

UConn/CCSU in new tourney at HCC -- J.J., 10:34:41 05/09/06 Tue
Another great game (actually 3) for the schedule in 06-07. Sounds like this may replace the MS tourney at Detrick next year.
-----
From the Hartford Courant:
A three-day men's basketball tournament that would include UConn, Central Connecticut and two other teams is in the works for the Civic Center for the early part of the 2006-07 season.
The event, to benefit the Hispanic College Fund, would be held on three days in mid-November.
"UConn has verbally agreed, and Central already has agreed to play," J. Fernando Barrueta, the fund's president and CEO, said Monday from his office in Washington. "We're looking at Nov. 17-18 and 20, but we're still working on the dates, the rest of the field and getting things finalized."
Last year, Oregon, North Carolina State and Georgetown hosted Hispanic College Fund Classic tournaments. The first two had four teams, with each playing three games in three days.
The tournaments are a major revenue producer for the organization, which provides underprivileged Latino youth with resources and scholarships.
If a deal is finalized, it would be the first time UConn has played in an early-season tournament in Hartford since the 1992 Connecticut Mutual Classic. Central played in the last early-season men's tournament at the Civic Center, the 2002 Phoenix Classic.

Temple? -- J.J., 10:53:40 05/10/06 Wed
The Conn. Post also reported on the tentative Hispanic College Fund tourney at the HCC. CCSU is on board, UConn has given a verbal OK, and Calhoun said they are looking for a "name" team and they have spoke to TEMPLE! I'd expect 1 other mid-major to round out the 4-team field.

Re: MBB OOC schedule and thoughts -- Mike, 11:07:13 04/27/06 Thu
It would be nice to see the Mohegan Sun Classic at Mohegan Sun...I guess that only happens when we have a winning season! I am sure we will see Delaware (Bastards!!!HA) & Harvard in Detrick. I do not think Howie will go for a series with Hartford, but some other AE team will be on the list. Maybe a trip to Birmingham-Southern is in the works. I am more concerned with recruiting right now...it went from Awesome to not so good in a short period of time, and has been quiet for the last week or two. All the other NEC teams are releasing thier LOI's hope central can seal some quality recruits up soon.

I am also pretty bummed about recruiting. I think we lost out on two much-needed recruits. Brian Johnson sounded like a great, pass-first guard that could make everyone around him better, and Tyrone sounded like he had a ton of upside. So far , the offseason couldn't have gone any worse.
