Subject: NEC FB schollys/schedules

This season the NEC may offer up to 30 scholarships for football that can be spread among more than 30 players.

Do we know about how many CCSU is funding for 2006 and what are the future plans? Do you all think we will really recruit and get commitments from a higher caliber athlete thn we had in the past under these new rules?

According to quote by the Monmouth coach, the Hawks had offered the equivalent of "less than 10" full rides for this year.

Any idea about the other schools in the NEC stack up? I assume SBU will be closest to the 30 limit becasue they are going I-AA Independent next season.

Also, Monmouth reported two big OOC games in 2007 vs. Delaware and vs. Lafayette. Albany is going to Colgate in 2007.

Since FB schedules are done years in advance, unlike basketball, is CCSU signed to play anybody big OOC in 2007?

JJ - I forgot exactly what Dr. Miller said during his speech at the Alumni Assoc. dinner last Spring, but I know he is committed to further expanding FB scholarships.

It was reported that Albany will spread eight scholarships among 22 players out of this year's 25-man recruiting class.
