Subject: Men's Soccer voted 3rd in NEC preseason poll
In reply to: J.J. 's message, "W Soccer teams picked as NEC favorite" on 11:22:31 08/14/06 Mon

Another strong men's soccer squad led by the the returning NEC POY take the pitch looking to win their first NEC championship and return to the NCAA tourney for the first time since a 1995 play-in game.

From the NEC:
Central Connecticut State (8-6-3, 5-3-1 NEC) not only has the most experienced head coach in the conference - Shawn Green enters his 22nd year manning the successful program - but also the two-time reigning NEC Player of the Year in Alex Harrison (Eastbourne, England/Willingdon). Harrison led the NEC in both goals-per-game (0.81) and points-per-game (1.75), and ranked second in the conference with 13 goals and 28 points as the Blue Devils finished tied for second place in the regular season. On the national scene, he concluded the year ranked sixth in goals-per-game and 12th in points-per-game. A pair of Harrison’s English compatriots Jan Klukowski (Wiltshire, England/Sheldon) (first team) and David Tyrie (Norwich-Norfolk, England/City Of Norwich) (second team) both earned all-conference recognition last season. Klukowski , a sophomore midfielder, was fourth in the conference in points (17) and sixth in goals (seven), while Tyrie, a sophomore defender, helped engineer a defense that yielded a mere nine goals in nine league games.
