On a related note, look at the political clout UConn wileds in the legislature. They basicly blocked a state audit of their foundation's finances (CSU also opposed the bill). A compromise was reached to only audit public funds every 2 years. Just check out the last parargraph from today's Courant article:

"The foundation has strong support among many in the legislature, which is filled with UConn alumni and supporters. The board includes numerous prominent citizens, including Capitol lobbyist Jay F. Malcynsky, Austin, and current and retired corporate executives. The donors to the foundation represent a who's who of well-known alumni, including Charles R. Klewin, the chairman and founder of Klewin Building Co. Klewin has been involved in various building projects on the campus, including the Homer D. Babbidge Library and the Dodd Research and Archives Center. Klewin was criticized recently for hiring former Gov. John G. Rowland as a consultant for his company after Rowland resigned."
