Agreed, more money is the answer. But don't expect it to come from the state. Gov. Rell has all but said that budget increases are not a possibility, in fact, the exact opposite is happening. The athletic budget at CCSU has remained the same for the past three years, and with the rising price of everything, that in effect means you deal with less money each year. You want to know my solution, we need to FUNDRAISE! But in order to do that, we need to to fill all of the positions so that can happen. When an AD is worried about tickets, and not fundraising, that is a problem.

Agreed on the board comments. And apologies to anyone who I may have offended, I was probably out of line, but not the only one. I realize everyone's goal is the same on this board.

On a related note, look at the political clout UConn wileds in the legislature. They basicly blocked a state audit of their foundation's finances (CSU also opposed the bill). A compromise was reached to only audit public funds every 2 years. Just check out the last parargraph from today's Courant article:

"The foundation has strong support among many in the legislature, which is filled with UConn alumni and supporters. The board includes numerous prominent citizens, including Capitol lobbyist Jay F. Malcynsky, Austin, and current and retired corporate executives. The donors to the foundation represent a who's who of well-known alumni, including Charles R. Klewin, the chairman and founder of Klewin Building Co. Klewin has been involved in various building projects on the campus, including the Homer D. Babbidge Library and the Dodd Research and Archives Center. Klewin was criticized recently for hiring former Gov. John G. Rowland as a consultant for his company after Rowland resigned."

And what does this increased revenue for UConn yeild? Side contracts for officials and coaches, and questionable ethics. UConn's AD just recived 2 free cars from a dealership that works with UConn. The Legislature created this monster in Storrs and look at the results!
