Insider - Any news or predictions for the fall teams aside from football? From my browsing of the website it looks like both soccer teams and the volleyball team should compete for NEC titles. Does anybody think all 3 teams can earn bids this year?

I think its great for the WSoccer team to get a major home game. To get Oregon to visit New Britain for a regular season game is a highlight (I know they are in CT to play UConn too). I would guess that that is the first Pac-10 team to ever visit CCSU in any sport – another school first for that team. It looks like they have a very tough schedule (4 BE teams – SHU, SJU, UConn and BC; plus a challenging regional slate of UMass, Yale, Hartford, and Fairfield). Let’s hope they do as well as last year.

Also, I don’t know much, but the volleyball schedule looked pretty good too with 2 teams from the volleyball hotbed of California and 3 Big East squads (UC Davis, UC Riverside, Seton Hall, Providence, and UConn).

WS will be good again, with a third straight chance to go to the tournament. This class of seniors has turned the program around. The MS team will also be strong, they didn't lose much from last year's team that made it to the NEC final. The problem is you always have to deal with FDU, who a few years ago made it to the Elite 8 and is always strong. Volleyball will be good again also, they didn't lose anything. The problem there is beating Robert Morris, who they lost to in the final last year. If these teams can have good regular seasons they can all host the tournament as the top seed.

Volleyball sked is pretty tough, but Seton Hall and Providence are BE in name only. Providence volleyball is among the worst in the country because they don't fund it.
