Subject: Is Pittman up for the challange?

There are 45 days until Mens BB practice starts and 80 days until the first Game.. ( not like I am counting or anything)
Who will arise to be come the emotional leader of the Blue Devils this year? I am not really talking about being a floor leader. I think that Lenny and the New Kid will share that role. Ronnie Robinson did a great job of being the heart and sole leader of this team for a few years!

I know that Rich is a little more reserved and that kind of role may not suit him. (Kind of like Scottie Pippen and Jordan thing).
THe question is 'Has Pittman stepped up to fill these shoes? ' and if it not him Who? (Sobers, Javier)
It will be interesting to see who this extremely important role gets to.

I am sure Howie knows that the peices are there for another great season and this monster needs a head!

Clearly Ron was the emotional leader last year and as the only senior with tons of freshmen he had the experience to back it up. He seemed to be liked by everyone and they wanted him to win. Ron led the team early in the season, but everyone found a role by tournament time. I don't know these kids other than a few games I get to see in person or on TV, but Javier and Obie are 2 guys that play w/ tons of heart and can be emotional sparkplugs. Again, because Pittman is the lone senior I think that will help him lead the younger guys, although now they have more experience themselves. I would guess that Rich is up to it, but I’m interested to see how the new guys (Blackwood, et al) will mix in with the existing team. With the added size this season I think this team can be a real contender. Let’s just hope it doesn’t take a near collapse at mid-season to spark what was an impressive run at the title.

There was alot of turmoil until about the middle of the season (Losing, Battles, Barrett, and all those injuries) Like I have said a bunch of times before.. Howie is a great coach at this level and he knows how to get the most out of a dedicated, comitted team. It seems that when you lose a kid to homesickness(or somthing else) right in the middle of Nov, it really hurts you because you have spent so much time and resources for nothing. Remember the word for 2004 is 'No PUNKS! and stay healthy!' :)
This blackwood sounds like a freakin defensive GEM! I think I found a photo of Tristan at the FIBA tournament of the americas

Here are his stats..
2 Pts 3 Pts FT Points Reb
# Player GP Min M/A % M/A % M/A % Pts Avg O/D Tot Ast PF TO St BS
5 Blackhood, T. 5 91 6/9 66.7 3/16 18.8 7/8 87.5 28 5.6 0/6 6 15 13 19 8 0

Not alot of scoring... He looks to be a slasher, not alot of 3 pointers went in for him.... He has a nice assist / turn over ratio. 8 steals ( the mose of the team )
