Subject: Interesting basketball recruit

According to Rivals.com (Recruiting web site), CCSU is interested in Roosevelt Lee. He would be a huge steal for Central. He could have gone almost anywhere. Uconn, Texas, North Carolina and almost every D1 major school was interested but he could never qualify academically. He recently left his fourth prep school or junior college in as many years. The story on Rivals.com talked about how he is back home in New Britain and Central is showing a lot of interest.

This kid looks like a real hoopster... But will he be harder to keep in school than he is worth? CCSU would probalby have to hire a full time tutor just to keep this kids grades up to keep him on the court.

He has a 3 star rating on rivals and I dont think central has gotten anyone over 2 stars?
also, when are we talking getting him signed, the November signing period is like 2 weeks away. and he probably would have 2-3 years left in eligabliity

Unless he does not take scholarship for 1 year and take the classes he needed to get the AA degree. But he loses a year of eligilibity. Who knows how much he has left?

won't happen. the kid never got his AA degree before leaving JC so he would be ineligible without that.

The story said that he has 4 years of eligibility left as we speak. When I asked the man who wrote the story what kind of player he thought Ro Lee would be at Central, he responeded by saying he would probabaly be NEC player of the year all four years.

his basketball ability is not the issue.

I completely agree. I was kind of beginning to give up on
him. He switched schools four times in four years. The one place that seemed like a good fit was Milford Academy because it was close to home. Once that cloesd down it seemed like he just got lost in the picture. Hopefully if he ever does end up at Central, being close to home will help him keep focus and get help inside the classroom.

CCSU has gotten a three star recruit in Obie Nwadike. I wouldn't pay much attention to their rankings anyway, there probobly based on very limited viewing. This kid sounds like he could be a major headache, but is definitely worth the risk because this team is lacking a major scorer.

they haven't played a game yet, how do you know they don't have a major scorer? Why would you want to bring in a bad seed? When he decides to leave everyone will be saying how bad it is that another player has left the program. and I disagree that being close to home will keep him grounded. Being close to home will keep him closer to high school friends and that's when the trouble starts. Is it worth bringing in someone who may be trouble just because he is a good player? I don't think so.

As for the recruit, I think we all agree a good team attitude is more important than raw talent. Not knowing a thing about this kid other than these web reports, it sounds like he will not be eligible by NCAA standards, so its really moot point right now.

Yes, although we haven't played a game yet what I think EZ-MAC was saying is that it we might not have a real "go-to guy" like we have in the past with a Mickens, Tice, Edwards, Robinson - that is unless Pittman or someone else really steps up. At this point I kinda agree, although that being said this is probably the deepest team Howie has ever had. He could easily play 9-10 deep this year. The good news is that we'll have fresh legs all the time (like SFNY usually does) and a lot of different looks. I just hope winning the NEC is most important to these guys becasue it sounds like they will really have to earn their PT.

I think the he is definitely worth takning a chance in getting. Every time he has been close to home, either at New Britain High or Milford Academy he has been fine. Once he goes far from home he loses focus and always ends up coming back. From what I heard the reson my be because he has a kid. If he some how ends up at central and plays his cards right, everything will be great.
