Subject: RE: starting line up

Is CCSU really unstable at the PG spot to start Blackwood? I thought Jefferson & T-Ron were holding the position down adequately...

Also, if they do have another 'ship available, one would assume they'd be looking towards the frontcourt again (SF or C, they seem set at PF)...

Thoughts???

I would disagree that Tron was doing a good job. Lenny Jefferson was playing adequately but with the loss of Robinson, this team is going to need more scoring and that is not Lenny's game. Blackwood appears to be a big time recruit and it should not be seen as a sign of trouble that a freshman would start. Blackwood sounds like he will be a much better scorer than Jefferson is. Unless Blackwood is turnover prone, I see him definitely starting. The big question with this team's starting lineup will be the Shooting Guard and Center spot. Mojica, chiera, and Anderson all could possibly be the 2 guard. They will probobly just rotate minutes between them all. I see Sobers and Middleton splitting time at center. I am anxious to see how Sobers plays next year because he is extremely athletic. And now that he has bulked up, he could become a major force. He even showed good shot blocking ability, but he is very foul prone and needs to work on that. I agree that if they do sign another player, it will definitely be in the frontcourt.
If I were to guess: PG) Blackwood, SG) Chiera SF) Nwadike PF) Pittman C) Sobers ( playing slightly more than Middleton)

That lineup does make sense...I'm hoping Middleton pushes for A LOT of PT so that CCSU can go to a bigger line up at times (putting Sobers at PF and Pittman at SF or utilizing McMillon at SF (pushing Nwadike or Chiera to the bench)... To me, size is important even on the mid major level...

Middleton would have to be pretty good to push Nwadike to the bench. Nwadike is the kind of player every team needs, he plays very good defense, gets Offensive rebounds, and doesnt take alot of bad shots. Don't forget that Nwadike basically shut down Ryan Gomes when they played Providence. If they played that game here at Central without the horrible officiating, central would of won and Nwadike would of been a huge part of that. I do agree that Nwadike has limited upside because of his size, but who knows, maybe he'll develop his outside game and start to hit jump shots. I am also very curious about Mcmillion, Ive seen him play a little bit and he looks very athletic and has good size. Interested to see if he gets more playing time. This team is not going to win a ton of games but they are going to get to the conference tournament. Im sure Howie will try a ton of different combinations and we'll get to see all of them. This is a young team and the lineup will never be set in stone. We could end up seeing both of our lineups. Central also has begun to look at another player but he looks like a longshot, they are recruiting Eric Whitehurst, a 6-8 forward, but he is gettin recruited by big time programs. He is a top 150 player. This would be an insane grab by Howie.
