Subject: Schudel fired

I just saw CCSU football coach Paul Schudel stepped down. That came out of the blue. Anyone know what happened?

Just read that too. Very disappointing. I like the fact that he scheduled-up against the like of UMass, Maine, and New Hampshire. I can only guess that those big losses didn't help him much.

Athletic Dept not consulted, Judd makes decision on his own. This is an interesting excerpt from a NB Herald article. Why would he doo this. CCSU has never had a good football program, so the standards aren't that high. I also thought we had been making good strides. Go figure.

"There were a number of things to consider," Judd said about his decision, adding that it was "not based just on X’s and O’s."

Sources within the CCSU athletic department indicate the department was not asked for input in the decision to release Schudel. Judd declined comment on the issue, but he did say "these decisions come in a number of ways and ultimately this was my decision."
