New Britain, CT (November 24, 2003) - Senior captain Ron Robinson scored 26 points and had 11 rebounds as the Central Connecticut men's basketball team posted an 83-79 exhibition victory over Big Apple Basketball on Monday night.

Central Connecticut outrebounded Big Apple 56-32 including 28 offensive rebounds, and four players scored in double figures as the Blue Devils played their lone exhibition game of the season. Three Blue Devils posted double-figures in rebounds led by Robinson's 11 and junior Rich Pittman's 11. Five Blue Devils had at least six rebounds in the game including freshman guard T. Ron Christy with eight and freshman guard DeMario Anderson with six. Christy added six assists on the night. Freshman forward Obie Nwadike had 10 rebounds on the night to go along with nine points and two assists.

Central Connecticut, with three freshmen in the starting lineup alongside Robinson and sophomore Justin Chiera, shot just 42 percent from the field for the night. Chiera scored 20 points on seven of 12 shooting from the floor, including six of 11 from behind the three-point line.

Nate Brown led the way for Big Apple with 20 points on eight of 15 shooting from the floor. Chris Sandy and Robert Hodgson each scored 11 points. Donald Harrison had 11 rebounds in the loss.

Central Connecticut starts the regular season on Saturday afternoon in the first round of the Mohegan Sun Classic in New Britain. Binghamton will face Loyola Marymount at 12:00 p.m. while Central Connecticut will play Charleston Southern at 2:00 p.m. The consolation game will be played at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday while the championship game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
