as of yesterday, salmon fishing heated up considerably off the mouth of salmon river on the river structure in 50' to 80' down 50' to 65'. Green or chartruese hotspots with Glow green heads and five to six foot leaders were tops. Also j-plugs really took off. Size four and five in silver, chartrueuse black ladderback, gold, and others all worked well. leads for the cutbait rigs were 15' to 25' back from the weight and plug leads were 35' to 55' feet back. mutiple hooks were somewhat common today and yesterday. Top boats yesterday were strikezone II at eight for Twelve (8 for 12), Strikezone I at 7 for 14, Retreat at 5 for 7 and the rest of the salmon river fleet with 2 to 3 salmon each. Today it was even hotter with many boats whacking them good. Pirate had the hot hand early and finished a six hour with six majors out of double figures hookups. the mudharks were extremely nasty this morning beating up many trollers. Tonite at midnight, the water in salmon river will rise and six hours later there will be big water pulling the majority of the fish inside of 100 feet towards the river. Expect a major run of mudmarlin in lower salmon river Sunday morning or maybe a few even by LATE saturday evening. right now it's pouring down hard rain at 10:00pm friday night. We'll be trolling by 5:30am on the river structure unless the wind keeps us off. They will be here soon. (the sharks) Good fishing. walleyed out!
