Took a ride west to Rochester to pick up my new color brochures for 2002 (steelhead, walleye, bass) and on the way stop to sample the western Roch east streams. Salmon creek had the most with a nice assortment of domestic rainbows and female browns. Bear and webster had a goodly number as well. Maxwell was mediocre at best. All were nicely puffed and stained, Righteous, as we like to refer to their condition... as in perfect for drifting egg bags. HOT pink and chatreuse were the ticket. Yesterday, in a hour of drifting bags at South sandy at the firehall pool produced five of six fish head shaking but only one landed and he, alas, was belly hooked. He still carried the tony's salmon country hot pink bag in his pelvic fin as he swam off in a huff, none the worse for wear for his experience. One of the other head shakers was a slammer in the high teens (or bigger). We will be assaulting the sandies tomorrow and shall report our findings if the fish fairy waves her magic wand over us....stay tuned trout ticklers. Good fishing. walleyed out!
