Subject: New Proposed Leader Law

To concerned fisherman,

I agree with Randy Jones accessment of the new proposed leader law. A 2 1/2 to 8 foot leader is used depending on clarity of water, depth, speed, education level of fish and I do not use it as a tool to fool hook fish. As a matter of fact, during the course of the fishing season I foul hook very few. Most people who are in favor of a 4 foot leader law have probably observed long leaders being used in an unethical manner. Example, someone who yanks on the rod frequently, and always at the end of the drift. These are people who are trying to snag a fish with a long leader.

I think the DEC. is concentrating on the wrong end of the rod. I am also a guide and have fished the river for over 20 years. The problem is the people that dont obey the law will continue to disregard the law. It does not matter how many laws are passed, the bandits and law breakers will not obey them anyway.

As a guide and ethical fisherman you will be eliminating a proven method used by most fisherman to catch educated fish that are holding in the deeper, slower water. Their visual cone is so large that a 4 foot leader would put the weight and main line in plane veiw and cause the fish to have a negative reaction to bait/fly.

If you would all please help me, show support against the possible 4
foot leader law, email or call all of the below:
