And what do you suppose David Warner's cut of the profit is? What a creep.

If DW personalized his autographs, it would make them less resellable--and hopefully make these mercenaries feel like the heels they are. Another person is even selling a photo of him taken outside the theatre! (BTW, I meant the seller was a creep, not ... you know!)

In 1180827736? Notice only one of them is smiling, but the guy's not a nice thin blonde girl, so what do you expect.

I'm so disgusted by the sleazy extremes some people will go to. Poor DW, he looks like he wants to strangle that jerk and we wouldn't blame him if he did.

BTW, thanks for the compliment, Jen :-).

I think that after nearly 40 years of stardom, Mr. Warner can detect phonies, people who merely want his autograph because he's a celebrity and not because they truly appreciate his work.

Signing autographs can be a dreary chore. And I think that at least 90% of the people who ask him for one are mere autograph hunters, not real fans.

I know a woman like that. Anytime, anywhere she spots a famous individual, she's got to ask for his/her autograph even if she doesn't care at all about that person's work. She owns an impressive autograph collection, but at what price? She must have annoyed a lot of people over the years.

The last time I asked someone for his signature, I was about 7 years old and I had just gotten an autograph album as a gift. I used it exactly twice. Since then, I've met exactly *one* celebrity that I really cared for (a writer from Quebec). I had won an invitation to his book launching and I was too shy to talk to him because I had no money to buy the book. I finally worked up the nerve... I told him that I couldn't purchase his book that day, and he was very nice and started to look for a piece of paper to sign. But I told him that the pleasure of meeting him was more than enough for me and I walked away (someone had just served him some food and I felt self-conscious about keeping him from eating because he looked very hungry).

My point is: it's all right to ask celebrities for their signatures if their work really means something to you and if the time and place are appropriate.

The previous message had the wrong smiley. My apologies to Melissa.

Hey, the new moderator should steal that pic and make it the new board illustration, and see if the kid complains, or am I too tired to make sense?

By all means go ahead and use my picture. I'm tired of looking at Iaonn Gruffyd's mug anyway.
