I clicked on the American Airlines Theater link while editing my bookmark list (funny how you busy yourself with stupid nonsense at times like this) and was taken aback by that photo of a black cat. I suddenly noticed the date. It's over. I haven't been able to cry all week. I have that false macho bravado problem as it is, but I was starting to wonder if there's something wrong with me. Now I'm finally putting the two and two together. There's been that ongoing debate about televising executions, remember. It seems so odd now that I realize I saw genocide on live television. Some people are telling me, "Welcome to Israel," but now we also know what it's like to be British. This was a three-plane blitz, could've been more; may be again at anytime. The guy who was best man at my wedding is homeless. My cousin's boss is dead. My husband knows people in finance, they've got neighbors still MIA. I'm frightened, because media people are already running sentimental music videos and obsessing over approval ratings like it's the Gulf situation all over again. They really don't get it. We need another Churchill or FDR and all we have is someone I was already worried was just going to be the next Herbert Hoover.
