Is Molière known in the English theatre world at all? He wrote a lot of fine comedies starring or featuring interesting older men.

Sigh... If he wanted a hit... Maybe he should have starred in a musical comedy based on Star Trek. He could have played one of the major alien roles!

A French movie that I would love to see remade in England: "Les Grands Ducs". The original, starring French screen legends Jean Rochefort, Philippe Noiret and Jean-Pierre Marielle, was hilarious. The plot: three old pals, all of them no-name, no-talent actors, go on tour with a tacky play. A great part of the fun was watching three exceptional actors play those losers and pretend that they had no talent at all on a stage (to make up for their utter lack of thespian ability, they hammed it out outrageously and without any flair).

I can picture DW playing the part of the elegant lecher. His co-stars could be John Hurt and Ian Holm.

Yes, but it seems Moliere is sort of a second tier repertory writer. That would have been a great idea!
I think the live action Star Trek is exclusive to that same hotel in Vegas that committed to Starlight Express for seven years - the Hilton? (I'd call it the Hellton, if so...)
