Likewise! Nice meeting you too. Your wonderful description of the book has made me take it off the bookshelf and dust it off! I'm just finishing another old favourite, Jamaica Inn. Hadn't read that one in years as well.

Wow, Jamaica Inn--Is that Nathaniel Hawthorne? Forgive my ignorance. I just woke up and again, I'm sans caffeine.

I've actually been considering reading that myself...but I have "Firebrand" by Ms. Bradley next on my list of must read. That is the story of the events of the Trojan War through the eyes of Kassandra (Cassandra) the prophetess who fortold events but because she was cursed, no one believed her. The story is told once again through the eyes of the women involved in the Trojan War, namely Helen of Troy and Kassandra. (I've studied Greek mythology since I was in elementary school and after reading "Mists Of Avalon I am *BRISTLING* to read "Firebrand"!!!!!

We seem to get the nicest people here in DW appreciation land. Hope to see you often and do stop by the chatroom. *hoping there's a link to it on Louise's site because remembering URL at this point in my day is not going to happen*....

I better go make a pot of coffee.

Jamaica Inn was written by Daphne du Maurier. Oh, to switch back to The Mists of Avalon, I also have it on audio tape read by Natasha Richardson.
BTW did you enjoy your coffee?!!

... and it's my all-time favorite book. Which came about because my other favorite actor, Robert Newton, was in Hitchcock's 1939 movie version (which bore little resemblance to the book). It was the forerunner to Rebecca, but I think it's even better.

Hmm, what role could DW have played in a faithful film version? Ah! What about Reverend Davey? (With Newton as Uncle Joss!)
