And why wouldn't they? :) It is well they should! I will be watching of course. Good to see you again!

I also saw on Sci-Fi Channel the episode of Babylon 5 that Mr. Warner starred in. I have it on video but watched it anyway. I really enjoyed his performance, although I'm not a big science fiction fan anymore.

Aw, jeez, I look away for a week and look what happens!
Hornblower was pretty freaky. I came in on the first showing while I was getting laundry together and it was the scene where he's laid out with blood on his head. I flashed back to that Star Trek movie (what number, VI?)! Just my luck, he's already dead (!!!!!) I thought. It was repeated right after and I saw some of the cooler scenes but my husband forced me to shut it off because he didn't like all the bleeding and beating and stuff. It was too depressing (and with all that rain I was getting kind of down too). Well, chalk another sympathetic bad guy up for him! The print version of TV Guide has a small photo, not too sure about the story, is that online too or should I actually fork over dough for it?

Thanks!
They really make you dig. It's also an asp file so you can't really bookmark it. There's really nothing in the article. And, the online photo is pretty murky. I may just buy the mag, I just think it's so expensive. We'll see.

I tried to save the photo, but all I got was a Java script!!!

The rascals! Pretty soon, I won't be able to steal photos from other sites anymore!!!

Thank you for the message.

The URL to the Hornblower official site is:

There's also a Hornblower page on A&E's site.

The critic was right! Just watched and was floored! So great to see DW really have something to sink his teeth into. Hand the Man the Emmy!!

Campy? No way! The whole show was great: The plot kept me rapt for the full two hours (a rarity), I loved the nautical setting (everything was so realistic and looked very historically accurate too), all the actors were great, and DW finally gets a starring role with some depth to it. I loved to hate his paranoid Captain Sawyer. In his usual inimitable way, DW makes you sympathize with the cruel captain when you realize he's not quite right in the head. Yet that doesn't make him any less fearsome. (Was this the original Mutiny on the Bounty?) And he's looking as handsome as ever too. Especially with that long, tousled hair when he catches Horatio sleeping on his watch! (The only negative: that annoying A&E logo perpetually blocking up the screen!)

You're right, Amy, I think he deserves another Emmy. A brilliant performance--it's already in my top 10! I hope he has as big a role in the next installment (but I have a feeling from the previews that he doesn't).

BTW, not only was that A&E logo annoying, but so is their Web page! All the bells and whistles crashed my home computer and is still slow-loading and clunky on my souped up office computer, especially with those annoying pop-up windows! The busy, poorly organized site is hard to navigate and it doesn't even have a full cast listing. I'm so sick of Web pages that are so glizty they ignore the content. The photos could use some captions too--and a little variety: There were none of DW! I couldn't even find him mentioned on the site.

I enjoyed it too. I love period stories like this one and the whole "high-seas" adventure bit reminded me of my childhood visit to our own Mystic Seaport here in CT. I IMMENSELY enjoyed Warner's performance in this and I feel it is the best thing I've seen him in in ages......well, not ages........a long time.....I'm distracted easily.....how did I get here?

I hadn't seen any of the previous "Hornblower" installments but tuned in when I found out that Mr. Warner was going to be in this one. The critic who called David Warner's performance "amazing" was right on the mark. It seemed so long since I had seen DW, and I just knew that this was going to be another one of his stellar performances. And it was! By the end of the episode, I felt truly sorry for the character of Sawyer. It is always a pleasure to see David Warner, and I can't wait for Planet of the Apes!
