I was a fan of DW in Stratford in the 60's - saw hamlet 28 times etc etc. Not so interested in film, but last year he was back on stage. A disappointing play, but a creditable performance.
Now, DW is on tour in a play by Feydeau, 'Where there's a will', with Elaine Paige and Nicholas Le Prevost(recently in My Fair Lady in London)
Details on the site:
whatsonstage.com - use the search facility and put in 'Where there's a will' and you should find inf. It's in Cambridge w/c 26/5/03, and I'll be there.
Dare I go round after with my old programmes(already signed 30 years ago)? Watch this space.
Anne

The play got a dreadful review for the April 29th performance, of course that was only one person's opinion. I've learned not to put much faith in reviews.

I think you should definately take your old programmes to the performance, Anne! Keep us posted.

I can't find anything but announcements online. Where did you see a review, in a newspaper?
Thanks for any more info!

I caught "Where There's a Will" at Richmond (outside London), and enjoyed it a lot. David was excellent. I saw him on stage from Hamlet days on, and he has lost none of his old timing. It was lovely coming out of the theatre and hearing all around me people saying how good David Warner was.

Does anyone know where it will be after Brighton? I was hoping it would come into London, but have not heard anything about it.

By the way, I thought the droopy 'tache made him look like Don Quixote - that would be a great part for David!

I just saw on the Brighton Theatre Royal website that it is coming into London, hooray! And yes, the theatre was full when I saw it in Richmond.

He signed my old programme of Hamlet from the 60s for me when I went to the dreaded Snail play and was really excited to see it - so do take it for him to sign again!

It's nice to hear that DW is still onstage. It's too bad about the bad reviews though. I got to see him in Major Barbara in New York, and he got great reviews in that. Met him afterwards, and he was supernice to me too. I'm sure he'll be happy to sign your program again.

It's so neat that you got to see him in Hamlet. Wish I could travel back in time for that! Do you have any stories or reminiscences about the play or what it was like to meet him back then?

Good luck! :-)

Hi, Anne! How was the show? Did you get to meet DW and did you bring the old programmes? Hope everything went well! :-)
